The Kata DR-465 Digital Rucksack (Black) features TST RIB structural protection for up to two digital SLR cameras, one with mounted lenses, 3-4 additional lenses, flash, accessories and personal gear. The padded bottom camera insert can be removed to convert the rucksack from a camera bag to a daypack when you're not shooting. The main compartment holds a digital SLR in top grip position, while the modular dividers system will separate, organize and protect lenses, flashes and other accessories. The large top compartment will hold personal gear or additional equipment, and the internal pockets and MP3 player pouch will allow organization of personal effects. There are external pockets that allow quick-zippered access to supplies, and a water bottle/ tripod support pocket pulls out from a side pocket.
The included yellow Elements Rain Cover folds neatly away into an integrated pocket, and can be hung out to dry on the small buckle next to the handle, or tucked away for storage in one of the pockets. The bag is carried by a carrying handle, backpack harness, chest belt and balancing waist strap.

I was impressed from the moment I opened the box. Kata built a rucksack that’s functional, lightweight and rugged enough for just about any adventure – not surprising. The yellow interior makes finding the small items easy to find, particularly in low light conditions. Padded backing, shoulder straps, D-rings and waist straps make for a comfortable, functional pack.
Bottom Compartment -- Tilt opening easily accommodates my gear and quickly customizes with the padded dividers: Nikon D200 body with an attached Nikkor 55-200mm lens in the center compartment. To either side, a Nikkor 18-70mm zoom, Nikon 50mm lens, Nikon SB-800 Speedlight Flash (w/ diffusion dome), and Sekonic L-358 Flash Master. Everything fits with ample room. The padded compartment is removable in case you want to leave the camera behind and use solely as a day pack.
Upper compartment: Lowepro Memory Card case, card readers, two Nikon EN-EL3e batteries, two lens pens, pens, business cards, notebook, WD Portable drive, filter case…and my lunch!
Two smaller and one large zippered pocket hold additional items I separate into functional holding areas for flash modifiers, hardware items and sensitive items I don’t want falling out of my pockets. Compression straps help keep the bag from getting too bulky AND double as tripod carry straps, though I’m not sure Kata designed it that way.
All-in-all, I LOVE the bag. It packs full and can take a beating! Need room for a laptop? Go for the RS-467.

I recently purchased this bag to house my 40D with grip, and some of its accessories. When reading the description I noticed that they claim you can fit 2 DSLRs in the bag (one with a lens). The only way I did so was with my small 50mm 1.8 attached to the 40D. Way to small with the zoom attached. The removable dividers were configured in a way that made it hard to get a configuration acceptable enough to try and fit the 40D with zoom. It was a nice bag, but only if you have smaller cameras or do not use a grip. Nicely constructed, but again useless to me as it did not fit the gear that it was intended for. Sent it back to B&H the next day.

I use this bag for my D40x with 35mm, 18-55mm, and a SB-24. Its fits all items perfectly while leaving room for a additional lens. Also has room in top compartment for additional accessories (i.e. flash). The padding inside and out is really good as well. Great construction as well as comfortable shoulder straps. Overall a great bag that serves its purpose for small jobs and light traveling.

Comments about Kata DR-465 Digital Rucksack (Black):
This bag is nicely made, but it has much less interior space than you might think. A Nikon D300 with a moderately-sized zoom lens pretty much fills it up. I had to send it back, because I need to carry more.

I have two other backpacks one Tamrac and one Tenba. This one is great for day outings at the zoo or aquarium where I want to carry the minimum amount of equipment like my 7d 70-200, 1.4 extender, and an extra lens with room to spare. Also like that it doesn't look like a photo backpack.

This bag is a little more compact than I expected; when they say 3 - 4 lenses they must mean very short ones. Somewhat difficult to access equipment. Construction is very nice and it is very comfortable to wear. Would like to see the top compartment be padded also!

Quality bag. Couldn't wait for the "i" version but I'm happy with my purchase. Has more than enough room for my small Nikon system and laptop.

Like all the kata products, this is particularly comfortable and with a strong construction. I will advise it to everybody who want a small and handy backpack for small hike or to go make a walk in a park for the day. The biggest cons I have is the fact I can't hang my tripod. It seems the new DR-465i will have this function, but I couldn't wait to have mine.
Anyway, this is almost perfect, especially for people who don't to carry a lot of weight.

This is what I am carrying at the lower compartment:
- 5D2
- 85L 1.2 I
- 35L 1.4
- 24-105L
- Giottos Rocket Blower 5.3"
- Sunpak RD2000 Flash
Does not look like a camera bag like all others out there. Since my bag is tightly packed, no way I would try to access my gear while standing - don't want to take a chance of my gear falling out.
This makes it even a better deal if I get my rebate.

Although I am not a professional photographer, I carry my D300 every day with me. Besides my Nikon camera in my DR-465 is my 18-200 lense, SB-900 flash and many other accessories. Extremely comfortable to carry as a back-pack.

Very organized, light, fully supports the back, comfortable, the weatherproofing is a nice touch, and the dividers are extremely useful when not using it as a camera bag.

I liked the way the bottom compartment held my camera with lens and lens shade, and there was plenty of room for my other lens, charger, USB cables, all in one place.
The top compartment can be used for clothing. I opted to use it for DV Cam also.

Nice size and holds pro_Dslr w/ lenses. The lower camera compartment is removable so that it can be used a weekend pack, too.
Love the top section for personal items that may be needed during a long day of shooting.

I am taking the backpack on a European trip where I will be photographing a wedding. Enough room for 2 bodies (1 with a lens), an additional lens and flash. The bottom could be a bit larger, but it seems to work and have enough padding. I like that it tips out so you can get to your gear easily. The top part has pockets for extra small gear (memory cards, batteries, filters, etc). And the main top part of the pack is great for putting a jacket, iPod and some food. The waist belt could have some padding to it to make it a bit more comfortable, but overall the pack is a great pack at a great price!
