I love this helmet camera. It is very easy to hook up with the ARCHOS. The control buttons are easily accessed and it is very easy to orient the camera where you want to. [...]

Comments about Archos Helmet Camcorder for 405 & 605:
The product seems convinient as a way to film Point-of-View shots of sports or action using the headband. However, there are some issues that make it almost worth it to film with a regular hand held.
1.) The resolution is really bad. I get better video with the cheap video camera on my cell phone. Lighting changes throw off the camera easily.
2.) The cylindrical lens part is hard to position in the vertical. A couple of degrees off, and the image is severely tilted. It is hard to controll with your hand, and obviously much harder if the unit is strapped to your forehead.
3.) There is no holster provided for the record Arcos unit itself. While the headband holds the lens, there is no way to secure the Archos itself, so you either wind up holding something in your hand and defeating the purpose of the product, or you have to put it in your pocket, which endagers the Archos if you are filming action in the first place.

Comments about Archos Helmet Camcorder for 405 & 605:
I bought this with an archos 405 so that I could record my trackdays on the asphault. Great resolution (420 lines, as advertized), compact, awesomely simple controls, and the battery life that it demands out of the archos 405 is adequate. 2-4 hours, depending if I forget to switch the screen on the archos to power saving settings. The one gripe I have of this accesory are it's mounting hardware. Total garbage. A headband that isn't adjustable? I can't even tie it around my ankle, let alone my head... and a helmet? forget it. The flimsy case is kind of a joke.. it does keep the lens from getting scratched when it's sititng in my desk waiting for my next trackday. I built a custom mount for it out of pvc so I can velcro it to different locations on my bike. But the cam is awesome. I spent a total of [$]for a 420 line flash-based helmet cam and recorder. Not bad at all. This + an archos 405 + a 16gb sdhc card = all of the decent video recording you could ask for at a track.
