The BWRG1000 Long Range Wireless 802.11b/g Router from Bountiful Wi-Fi is the most powerful wireless router allowed by US law. The device can function as a router, bridge, access point, or repeater. It allows you to share your Internet connection between several computers that can connect via a standard 802.11b/g wireless connection or via any of four wired RJ-45 Ethernet ports.
The router also features a firewall to protect you from malicious software that can attack your computer from the Internet, as well as wireless security to insure that your data remains private.
The router can achieve speeds of 54 Mbps via a standard 802.11g wireless connection and it is also fully backward compatible with devices that use the older 11 Mbps 802.11b standard. These features make the device a great way to add wireless access to your home network.

I've installed 2 of these for computer customers of mine. The router itself seems to be cheaply built. The network ports on the back weren't labeled on either unit but I was able to tell what they were by the fact that the 4 network ports had a separation between them and the WAN port. The router is very lightweight. Due to the "high power" components inside it has a built in cooling fan that will be a noisy change to your typical home router. Bountiful needs to supply some stick on rubber "feet" as this thing slides around way too easily while you're connecting cables and it kept nearly falling off of the desk. Don't buy this router if you think it will be a magic bullet and solve all of your signal problems. It does have a strong signal, but only moderately better than most high end Netgear/Linksys/Dlink home routers. I installed one of the units in a very large lake house and the signal was not strong enough to cover the whole house so I used the customer's old Netgear router and hooked it up by a network jack closer to the weak area of the house and used it as a wired "bridge" so that they could have strong signal in that area of the house as well as the area covered by the router. Overall, I'm not sure it was worth the high price, but my customers didn't mind having "the most powerful" router and paying the money to get it.

Installed this in a warehouse space - tried to run 5+ clients. Radio would drop clients sporadically for 10 minutes. Reduced to one client and it seems to operate better,...so far. I have an older unit also and tried to connect 10+ clients to it the other day... it wasn't having it.
Firmware is really bad. It seems that very little effort is going into development on this - definitely made overseas and re-branded here. I'd love to see an aftermarket firmware, as the radio's power is outstanding and it's a shame to see it utilized by such weak software.
My older unit had a fan fail in less than a year - they need to heatsink without it, as this type of device might typically be installed in a non-accessible area (like a high ceiling) and shouldn't require service on a fan so soon.
Support is marginally responsive via email. They couldn't tell me on the first try how long a password could be. It took me multiple resets of the unit and a new technician on their side to get the story straight. On that note, it offers no option to change the username from admin to something else (see poor firmware comment above - a security risk in most people's eyes).
All in all - probably fine for a household unit, but definitely not recommended for business use. The only reason I'd recommend this to anyone is because it has wicked-good range.

I set this up for a network in a small warehouse complex. For the last three months I have received complaint after complaint about not being able to access the network, being dropped, and low signal strength. Yesterday I replaced is with an old LinkSys WRTG54 and the signal strength from it exceeded the Bountiful. I installed a Cisco E3000 and the strength from that is even better. We accessed the network with new laptops, old laptops, IPods, and IPads instantly. Now we cannot access the router to change settings. Bountiful will not answer the phone, nor return calls. The E300 is a least twice the router for half the price.

Unit requires weekly restarts and after a while just fails and will not work.
Will not accept a password and be compatible with all computers trying to login.
Manual and software is not customer friendly.

I have had this unit exchanged 4 times now. Unit transmittor fails and the flash goes bad after about 6 months.
Also has compatability issues with some laptops and does not like to have a password installed.
None of my other routers have these problems.
Only good thing is that when it works the range is good.
Also software is not well designed from a user interface perspective and is not stable.

I am very impressed with its range. I have tested N routers and nothing comes even close to this router.

The signal strength is out of this world! I have a 2,000 square foot house, and I get great coverage EVERYWHERE. My wife and I stream video a lot in our room on the other side of the house (it's also in the basement), and we rarely see a hiccup.
The security features were all easy to set up, and there were loads of options I could have chosen. It's been really important to secure my network because the coverage is so strong. If I want to, I can go walk to the Chinese restaurant down the street and STILL be on my own network while I eat!

I live in a condo complex that has a pool. I wondered if there was anything strong enough so that I could do some work after hours by my pool and still have it be fast and reliable. I tried some wireless "n" products with unsuccessful results, but then I came across the 1000 router. I get the signal way further than anything else I have tried.

B&H[...]I would buy from them again but I would definately stay away from this product. I too had high hopes for this router. I previously used a linskys router, but because I have a detached office, approximately 25' from my home, the signal was in and out. I purchased the boutiful WIFI router and Hi gain exterior antennae and thought it would solve my connection issues. This router does not disperse a signal any further than my old LInsky router. It may even be less effective. Frustrating after paying such a high price. I telephoned customer support to request technical assistance, but they advised me that the distance estimates offered in their description is only accurate in an area that is completely unobstructed. I personally dont know anyone who does not have furniture or walls in their home. I would not waste my money. Cheap models offer equal performance.

Our programmer feels this will be a very good product since the bountiful can extend for a long distance without dropping off.
