The Speedotron Explorer 1500 is a power pack utilizing many of the best elements of the Speedotron Black line of strobe products. It is a cost-effective solution to gas-powered generators, where AC power for strobes is not available.
The Explorer provides up to 225 full power flashes to a single 103 Black Line Series flash head with color-corrected flashtube (not included). That number will be significantly lower when using two heads with this pack. Its battery has an integral charger that operates with any AC current from 85-265 AC Volts. It has 2 head outlets, and power may be divided asymmetrically - 1000 and 500 watt/seconds. It will power a modeling light up to 10 seconds at a time, powering off automatically, to conserve battery power (150 watts maximum recommended). Recycle time is 3.5 seconds @ full power.
The power supply includes the power pack, battery, AC charging cable, sync cord and carrying case.

Comments about Speedotron 1500 W/S Digital Explorer:
I've owned Speedotron for several decades and find it to be the most reliable strobe equipment. I was hesitant about this pack because it was a new design and didn't know how it'd hold up.
After a few years on location my doubts are history. This pack is very versatile and at lowest power settings there is excellent flash-to-flash consistency. ± .1 stop according to my Minolta Flash meter.
I was shooting on a football field late at night one time and when the sprinklers went off three feet away, I thought I'd see the power supply short out. Even though it got some water splashed directly on it, the pack didn't die. We finished the shoot and as a safety measure I sent it in to Speedotron's renown service department and it came back two days later without any problems or need of repair.
The only down-side to this pack is its weight. It's about 25 lbs., of which 20 lbs. is the battery.

Comments about Speedotron 1500 W/S Digital Explorer:
Awesome battery pack. I use it on location and it works perfectly with my 202VF heads. The fans are disabled when using with the pack. The only drawback is the weight if you have an assistant holding it while shooting.
