The Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition incorporates a durable, 17-inch wide print carriage with a seamless combination of breakthrough technologies and software including Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink technology with Vivid Magenta, AccuPhoto HD screening, and ColorBurst's custom-designed PostScript Language Level 3 Compatible RIP.
UltraChrome K3 Ink technology - now enhanced with Epson's breakthrough Vivid Magenta pigments - produces archival prints with amazing color accuracy, gloss level, and scratch resistance; all while providing consistently stable colors that significantly outperform other professional printers. Furthermore, the use of three levels of black ink provides neutral or toned black-and-white prints with impressively high density levels and virtually no metamerism or bronzing.
With an even higher level of ink droplet accuracy than found on previous Epson printer models, the MicroPiezo AMC print head has been enhanced with an exclusive ink repelling coating technology to dramatically reduce nozzle clogging. This is combined with the Epson AccuPhoto HD screening technology. You'll be able to print at an astonishing resolution of 2880 x 1440 dpi. You can obtain extremely accurate fine color blends and photographic transitions.
Capable of handling virtually any type of cut-sheet media up to 17" wide, the Epson Stylus Pro 4880 incorporates a high-capacity paper tray that accommodates up to 250 sheets of plain paper in sizes ranging from letter (8.5 x 11") up to 17 x 22". The printer also incorporates four different ways to load media, including a front-loading, straight-through path capable of handling media up to 1.5mm thick and even a second, top-loading, single-sheet feeder optimized for fine art paper.
Whether you're a graphic designer, a prepress professional, or a commercial photographer, the Epson Stylus Pro 4880 ColorBurst Edition offers a total printing solution for contract proofing and increased productivity at an affordable price.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition:
We have one at our college for photography students to use. Disclaimer: Im not a photography profesional. But as a layman I'm very annoyed at frequency the Ink cartdigges must be replaced- 8 of them at around 100 bucks each. Now our Mainenance Tank needs to be replaced. Of course it's a "CONSUMABLE" that must be bought. This thing is engineered very well - to be a money pit. : (

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition:
The roll paper feed is what I use primarily and that works well. The large sheet feed (in back) lacks a guide and can handle only one sheet at a time. The small sheet feed has a somewhat clumsy lid and it feeds paper around a tight turn (not suited to thicker papers).

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition:
I used an Epson 2400 for the last 5 years. It did a great job but the cost of ink was not so good. Sent alot of work and larger prints outside for printing. When the 4880 arrived it was easy to set-up,load software and print. With 110 ML and 220 ML ink cartridges ink is more affordable. Would have given it five stars but the black ink changeover is costly and time consuming. That is why I only use Luster and Gloss papers.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition:
This is the best printer I have ever used. Well built, quite, fast and exceptional print quality.
When you do the math with 220ML catridges, the cost per print is very low.
When using the highest print quality, it almost looks like a painting.
I do a lot of HDR. The 4880 impressively brings out the highs and lows.

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition:
As an advanced recreational photographer of landscape and architecture. I use the Epson 4880 to print large color and black and white prints both of which it does extremely well. The colors are exceptionally true. The black and whites are incredible. Epson's technical support is terrific and responsive. I would highly recommend the Stylus Pro 4880. On the downside the printer is large.

I have been using Epson printers, exclusively, for nearly 20 years. This is the finest yet.It performs exactly as advertised. It even prints low res letters beautifully. However, I use it to print portfolio prints of my ads and of my photography.[...]

Comments about Epson Stylus Pro 4880 Large-Format Printer - ColorBurst Edition:
I am a graphic designer using my new printer to print mockups for clients from InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop CS3. I'm very happy with the color management provided by the ColorBurst RIP software that shipped with the 4880. Haven't managed to print successfully with the Epson Driver. Thankfully the printer combined with the ColorBurst driver is giving very accurate Pantone color representation and great looking photos. I would have given it 5 stars if the Epson driver had been less frustrating.
