The Nikon Coolpix S51 Digital Camera combines 8.1 effective megapixels of imaging performance with a 3x Zoom-Nikkor ED lens to capture everything from wide-open landscapes to tight portraits with outstanding clarity and true-to-life color. It features a large, bright 3.0-inch LCD monitor with a wide 160-degree viewing angle, enabling easier composition and high-quality image playback. It also incorporates Nikon's optical lens shift VR (Vibration Reduction) system, which compensates for camera movements to produce sharper, steadier images, and a High-Sensitivity mode selects the optimal setting up to ISO 1600 when shooting fast-moving or poorly lit subjects.

Comments about Nikon Coolpix S51 Digital Camera (Black):
I find that most devices, such as digital cameras have something the other doesn't. In other words, when I was looking for a new P&S digital camera, I kept liking one camera for a certain feature, then finding another better camera minus those same features.
What sold me on the Nikon Coolpix was the user interface. I HATE having to learn new menus and screens. When I picked up the Coolpix, it was as if I had already known how to use it.
One other great feature is the ability to edit and make quick videos IN the camera! No Joke! As an avid Flickr user, I'm now able to create video and upload it ready to Flickr's new video service. Genius!
I take the Coolpix everywhere I go now, the size allows me to slip it into my pocket. There is no lens that comes out of the device, so I never have to worry about banging it.
Comments about Nikon Coolpix S51 Digital Camera (Black):
My husband purchased this camera for my trip to Europe. Knowing I had little expertise with cameras this little Nikon was just the thing. I wanted a camera to fit into my small purse and I wanted to be able to point and shoot at everything I saw and this camera delivered. After learning how to change the white balance in the shooting mode some of the inside pictures were better than leaving it on automatic. Also changing the scene menu was very easy to do, the night landscape gave me wonderful pictures of Prague at night. Changing the scene menu to sports I was able to take picture of the country side from the train. The only downfall of the great little camera is if you use the flash a lot it will drain the battery fast, make sure you have an extra charged battery with you. If not using the flash the battery lasted all day on a hop on hop off bus in London.

Problems Encountered: The only downfall of the great little camera is if you use the flash a lot it will drain the battery fast, make sure you have an extra charged battery with you.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: Casio QV-11, Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V1
