CEntrance Inc. MicPort Pro - Compact USB Microphone Preamp (24-Bit/96kHz) with 48V Phantom Power for Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista
The MicPort Pro from CEntrance is a professional USB microphone preamp featuring true plug-and-play installation. The unit is very compact and enables instant computer recording to any audio software running under Windows XP/Vista or Mac OSX. The preamp supports the use of condenser microphones with the inclusion of 48V phantom power.
A rugged chassis allows the unit to be used in virtually any environment, while the MicPort's low-noise circuitry will preserve high-quality audio sources. The 1/8" stereo mini headphone output can power most headphones, features a dedicated volume control, and delivers zero-latency monitoring via a direct circuit.
The MicPort is suitable for vocal recording and overdubs, instrument and amplifier mic'ing, pod casting, multi-person interviewing using multiple MicPort units, and video production.

I use it for voice overs straight into Adobe Premier Pro CS5 for our Municipal Channel. Recognized by Windows 7, and the wonderful sound of the large condensor mike is all there. THis saves having to use our digital recorder then popping the card into the card reader. Saves a few minutes and those count in this business.

I record ads for use on a radio show. I use Sound Forge software. Plugging mic directly into my pc resulted in too little gain. Boosting gain with pc software/sound card introduced too much noise. Using this device yields clean, stronger input. I may not know all the technical explanation as to why it works, but it does, and that's all that matters!

I am a voice over artist and am currently building a mobile studio package. I couldn't believe such a small piece of equipment could replace a traditional audio interface unit. Well, let me tell you it does the job to perfection! Sounds fabulous, and I love that I can adjust both the gain and headphones separately.
One of my favorite things about the preamp is how easy it was to install. It was literally plug n play - NO learning curve whatsoever! I haven't played with it enough to find out things that aren't so great about it. All I can say is I love it so much, I have been using it in my home studio instead of my audio interface unit. I may get a second for my mobile studio kit.

I was under the gun to have a really good mic working at a session the day after I ordered the Micport Pro. I hadn't had this mic working before the date and I had paid a lot of money for it. The MicPort pro solved issues I had previously experienced and not had time to trouble shoot. The preamp and USB adapter was, as advertised, plug-n-play and it worked beautifully. I loved the volume control on the unit and it came in handy for light adjustments.

I use this with a Mac Book Pro and FCP. I use a Schoops mic for doing VOs on the road. Works great for me. Small unit , easy to travel with. Be sure to use a good pair of headphones. Mac Book saw it right away. No problems.

I use this to record lectures. Instructor wears Countryman mic plugged into MicPort Pro. I use ASIO-4-All to record into Audition 3.0 on a Core 2 Duo Laptop. Great Product. Phantom power, headphone out, durable metal construction.

I've been looking for a TRULY portable audio interface to record vocal for so long and I finally found the micport pro. I didn't expect much from such a tiny piece of equipment, but the recording quality turned out to be surprisingly good. The mic preamp is clean and provides more than enough gain, and the headphone level is ample. And you can adjust the sampling rate (44.1k / 48k / 96k) easily using the universal driver control panel. I mainly use it for vocal overdubbing and it works perfectly for that purpose. Highly recommended.

Plugged into my USB port and it worked...no bothering with software, no calling tech support to get it ready...it simply worked the first time and every time since. It has produced flawless sound for my lectures that I produce into flash movies. My only complaint is that it requires the receiver for a wireless lav mic, and that means its portability is less than I had hoped for; however, that is not the microport's fault...just the ancillary technology of the lav mic.

What a great little piece of gear! It turns any 48V phantom powered microphone into a USB portable. Especially helpful if you're a working voice over, or musician on the road like me. Rather than settle for what is out there USB wise, you can connect your favorite Neumann or Sennheiser Shotgun and away you go. Highly recommend. Be advised though, if you are running a Digidesign M-Box or Mini Mbox you don't need this.
