The AxePort Pro from CEntrance is a professional USB direct box for use with electric guitars and basses, and features true plug-and-play installation. The unit is very compact and enables instant computer recording to any audio software running under Windows XP/Vista or Mac OSX.
A rugged chassis allows the unit to be used in virtually any environment, while the AxePort Pro's low-noise circuitry will preserve high-quality audio sources. The 1/8" stereo mini headphone output can power most headphones, features a dedicated volume control, and delivers zero-latency monitoring via a direct circuit.
Setup is virtually non-existent, allowing the user to create a mobile recording situation anywhere a computer is available. Native Instruments' Guitar Combos modeling software enhances the usefulness of the product, especially for the on-the-go musician that needs high quality recording with minimal headaches.

Comments about CEntrance Inc. AxePort Pro - Guitar/Bass USB Direct Box:
I bought this hoping to use it as a DI for guitar and bass into my computer. The info online describing the product as compatible with Mac systems had me thinking it would work as a USB input I could use with ProTools HD. Unfortunately, this is not the case (digidesign issue apparently, not AxePort), also no matter how much I futzed with control panels, I could not get the AxePort to play "thru" the computer so I could at least take the optical outs of the G5 and run them to my ProTools interface. Frustrating. It does work with no problem into my MacBook running Garage Band, and also as advertised as a practice device with headphones. [...].It is well built and attractive. Other than my audio issue which may be OS related, I recommend it.

Worked great with the asio drivers. Even worked in a pinch on a friends laptop without having the driver available.
