As stated above, this lens is a must have for anyone looking to film at far distances. My 15x opitcal canon video camera was not enough for filming wildlife at distances which I was looking for, with this 3x add on I'm enjoying some of the BEST footage anyone could ask for! I highly recommend it!

I use this with a Sony HDR-HC9 camcorder that has 10X optical zoom. Takes me out to 30X zoom now. Camcorder native thread is 37mm - don't have to use an adapter ring.Great optical quality (use a tripod), lightweight and right length. My vignetting occurs at under 50% zoom (5X camcorder or 15X with the Raynox attached). Good for shooting at about 6X (18X) to 10X (30X).Great for outdoors, moon and wildlife shots and video.Added bonuses: It fits the last available space in my camera bag (LOL - for now) and the far end 55mm filter mount is the same size as my other camera mount - don't have to buy new filters!As always, best price at B&H, [...]

I use this for video taping wildlife from my HD Video camera. It makes the camera so much better because you can see things much further. The design is light wait and compact. I think it is a great addition to any hunter who is trying to video tape hunts.

must be exact fit though. my camera uses an adapter ring because it has a 46mm lens thread- so there is an incredible amount of tunneling. I can only use it for full zoom. CANNOT zoom out or else will be looking through a tunnel.

This is a great little lens. The weight lets you know that there's some good glass in there, and the image quality is impressive. You're going to need a tripod for this lens, as hand holding is outta the picture (horrible pun intended). I grabbed a tripod I use for our big studio 4x5 cameras, and it works quite well (altho maybe a little overkill). I can get a pretty decent pan going with little to no camera shake at all (with SteadyShot turned on). Oh, and I use mine on a Sony HDR XR520. All and all a great setup for doing personal projects and production videos. I'm actually a little impressed by the quality of this lens. It's more than I'd anticipated.

I shoot a lot of video of birds. It is hard to get too much telephoto. 3x is nice! I have a 12x Canon HG21 and Sony SR-11. This 3x means I can reach 36x. The camcorder focuses just fine. The normal downside of all converters is the clipping of the outside when NOT in the telephoto lens mode. With 3x and this being a small lens, the camcorder must be almost all the way out -- say 10 to 12x. The result is that it has limited field to find your object.
But do not be mistaken. I have tried the Kenko lens KUT-300 Hi 3x lens (only about 2.5x) and the ToKina 3x AF HIGH DEFINITION DIGITAL TELEPHOTO LENS on these same camcorders and they are not usable. They are not able to focus anywhere and a lot of lens flare. The Raynox 3.0x is a GOOD lens. I recommend this lens for anyone needing quality that dos the job... and very well! ... but small size.

I use this on various Sony HD camcorders. I'm so glad I got this thing, I was a little unsure because there was only one review that I could find. I use it primarily for wildlife and I'm getting great video of stuff I would not even have bothered with before. You will need a good tripod. Even mine starts shaking in light wind. I guess I need a heavier tripod.
