They do what they are supposed to. They work and work well. Yet they can't get up close to 2900 mAh.
Based on reviews I went for this powerful 2900 mAh. In practice not one has let me down. I too have micro processing chargers (La Crosse BC 700) along with the 8 bay Pearstone Charger (very convenient). The micro processing chargers can refresh and test charge levels, revealing full charge levels of my Pearstone AA's ranging from 2160 to 2350 mAh. This has however remained a consistent range, over the last year or so of random checking. I have marked some batteries and each one does fluctuate in their results within the range. Also first full charge after purchasing does not bring the batteries up to their full potential. In checking a friend's recent purchase of Pearstone AA's, a first use recharge test of his 4 batteries gave me readings of 1386, 1593, 1596 and 2140 mAh, yet they all worked well as a set and read in a similar range to my more seasoned Pearstone batteries of over 2100 mAh for the second recharge.
I have other top reviewed rechargeable batteries (Sanyo GE's) with claimed ratings of 2700 mAh. These are even older and they are currently giving mAh readings of 2550 to 2630. These have gained my respect. From my experience, they have a bit of an edge by seeming to outlast the Pearstones by about 50 flash bursts on a rough picture count when using my Nikon SB 800 and it's perfect partner the Nikon 8A battery pack (11 batteries). It's not a perfect test, as I do use available light, which does not require the service of the batteries in some shots. However after alternating sets for each job, both brands can just about make it to the end of Weddings with reasonably good effect. I am getting a clearer picture which is stronger, hence my preference. The mAh figures seems to vindicate my impressions. I never mix the different brands in one usage.
Again in the real world usage the Pearstones come very close and remain a reliable alternative. While I am satisfied with their performance overall, as I never got the 2900 mAH WOW factor I was expecting. My 4 stars remain as they do work consistently for me and I alternate my chosen brands without much fear for Weddings and large function assignments. So I end up not complaining... that's the Enigma. My trust is still there for Pearstone, although ignorance would have been bliss.
Since I am on the subject, these high powered NiMH rechargeables remain the choice for high power, high drain devices like camera flashes, point and shoot cameras and Micro LED lights which require a few hours or one to two days of full duty power performance VS the pre-charged 2000 mAh Sanyo eneloop and others in its category, which last longer and are more suitable for low drain house devices like remotes etc.

I give this a two because it's nice being able to buy AA's in a big bunch. Had Duracell or another major done that I'd have gone with them. Instead I bought three packs of these Pearstone batteries (thirty total) to load up some new Canon flash battery packs.
My batteries are charged by a microprocessor controlled charger and these batteries rarely, if ever reach a 2900mAh charge. I have other batteries that are a year old or older and still hold their rated capacity or more. To top it off, two of my thirty were DOA and did not work at all.
If Pearstone batteries were real cheap then low capacity and dud cells might be acceptable to some. But these cost around the same as batteries from a reputable manufacturer. I'll run these cells on Refresh a few times and see if they get better but nothing will save the duds. Avoid.

Comments about Pearstone "AA" Rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) 2900mAh Batteries (10 Pack):
I previously had 2000mAh batteries for the past 2 years. Since then they've lost their ability to hold their charge. Using these 2900mAh batteries, I've yet to run out of juice as quickly as my previous set. I shoot a lot of night shots at the skatepark and the flash really uses a lot of power. With 10 batteries to back me up, it helps a lot. If anyone wants long lasting batteries, plenty of charges, and reliable power, these are definitely worth it in the long run for you.

The 2900mah should say everything.I recommend buying the Pearstone "AA" Rechargeable NiMH Batteries with 30 Min Charger(it does the job well,is cheap, comes with 4 2900mah rechargeable batteries and it has a cooling vent).I am using them with the Canon 580EX II Flash which is a monster power eater...'till now.The batteries work great on this powerful flash as it performs excellent charging it instantly.I bought 14 of this rechargeable batteries.

Used allot of different brands, duracell 2650 where good. Pearstone runs circles around duracell. Electronic flash 99% of the time. Rapid recycle, very long life. Best I have ever used. Will migrate all AA rechargeables to Pearstone. Holds charge sitting on shelf, very well. Initial charge is rather long, but acceptable. Professional photographer, using them daily. Would not be without them.

Great batteries that pack a punch! A lot of power and a very reasonable price. Compare to Energizer batteries that are typically $20 for 8 and these are rechargable! Powered up within a few hours after opening the package. Very smart investment for sure!

These batteries are destined to be in my flash and aux battery pack. Recycle times are cut in half or less as a result of the 2900mAh performance.

Comments about Pearstone "AA" Rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) 2900mAh Batteries (10 Pack):
I had tried other NiMH batteries, but was always disappointed by the battery life especially in cold weather. These batteries performed better than expected, although they were slow to charge the very first time. This is my rechargeable choice.

Comments about Pearstone "AA" Rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) 2900mAh Batteries (10 Pack):
I bought these to use exclusively with the Litepanels Micro Pro on camera light. The light takes six(!) of these at a time, so between this pack and the pack of four I previously purchased I can usually get through a day of shooting, as long as remember to turn the light off between takes.
So far they seem to be doing the job just fine. I also recommend purchasing the fast (30-minute) charger - just in case.

Comments about Pearstone "AA" Rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) 2900mAh Batteries (10 Pack):
I initially bought these to use with my Canon 430EX flash, due to the better recycling time compared to normal batteries. They've even found a home in my son's toys a time or two. I haven't really taxed them at a wedding up to this point, so I've yet to see how long they would last with continuous shooting. So far they've performed well with semi-continuous shooting in low-light conditions.

Comments about Pearstone "AA" Rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) 2900mAh Batteries (10 Pack):
I like them because the batteries work as they are supposed to work. I also like the Pearstone charger that I purchased separately -- it has no cord to connect to a wall outlet (to me that's a plus, and the batteries recharge in the time the instructions said they would. I now own 14 of these batteries and all work perfectly.

I use these for wireless microphones during shoots.
You get what you pay for but in the end, shelling a few batteries and getting better ones later is better than nothing. They can make 4-6 hours out in the field which is pretty good when it comes down to it, especially when you can buy a few more and save yourself the recharge run headache.
A small warning, the coating on the outside makes it a little larger than some other batteries. I have had trouble with them getting stuck in my Sound Device mixer, so I choose to use other batteries with that.
