The Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens is a bright lens that provides an ultra wide-angle view, and has the shortest focal length in the line-up of L series lenses. Its diagonal angle of view is an impressive 114° - anything larger would be a fisheye lens.
This lens features completely redesigned optics, including two high-precision Aspherical elements and two UD-glass elements. This results in better contrast and sharpness at the outer edges, and a reduction in chromatic aberrations that can sometimes be seen with high-resolution digital SLRs.
The 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens uses a rear focusing system, high-speed CPU, and a powerful ring-type USM with revised electronics for faster, more responsive AF. This wide aperture lens is the ideal choice for architectural, corporate, or other pro-level photography.

Comments about Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I use this lens for specialty real estate work. It serves my purposes like no other Canon lens would. It is incredibly wide, nice color/contrast and built like a tank just make sure to watch the front of the lens. It doesn't allow for a filter because of how convex it is, making it somewhat difficult to protect it from the world of things that seek to damage it. Overall a great lens but a somewhat niche product due to its cost and extreme angle of view. If you need it you'll probably know it.

Comments about Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I have only owned this lens for a few weeks, so still getting acquainted but it's definitely a beautiful lens with great build quality. Not cheap but price is not why you buy this lens anyway. Feels solid in hand and seems to have great color reproduction and sharpness with minimal edge distortion considering its focal length.

Comments about Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
For still photography we've used this lens for some excellent architecture and panoramas. In videography (with the 7D and 5D MkII), it gives awesome steadicam interiors in tight quarters.
Though wide, it's completely flat, and there is no hint of distortion or chromatic abberation common to such wide lenses. We've only had the lens for about a week, but we've used it extensively.
My only caution on this lens...watch your light angles. With so much glass up front, it's prone to lens flare...a nice effect if you want it, but irksome if you don't.
It's one of those pieces that our crew thought we might be able to do without, but now that we have it, we never leave the shop without it! It's an expensive lens, but it's worth every penny!

Comments about Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I use this lens primarily for landscape, for which I think it is most suitable. I use it with the full frame 5D II. What astounded me about this lens was not only the width of the picture but also the height. The amount of image captured is extraordinary. The quality of the image is also excellent.
There is distortion of the image around the periphery: I have noticed elongated shapes such as faces and basketballs, light posts tilting inward toward the middle of the picture.
When taking a landscape shot the objects on the horizon appear to be about three times as far away as they actually are. But that cannot be avoided with a wide angle lens like this.
One must also be careful with the glass which is spherical and does not permit a protective filter to be attached.
I would buy it again knowing what I know now. I am looking forward to exploring its capabilities.

I purchased after BandH salesperson recommended it for underwater video. WOW I'm so happy with this lens and I did some nighttime landscape photos with the lens that came out great. This is essential if you want to do underwater with the 7d or 5d.

Comments about Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
Having recently purchased my first full frame (5D Mark II), I wanted to start truly making use of a wide angle lens. It came down to this lens and the 16-35mm zoom. The reviews on both lenses were great.
Because the 5D Mark II included a 24-105mm lens in the package I purchased, I decided not to overlap my focal length ranges and go for the prime 14mm lens. It is sharp and VERY wide.
I haven't had the opportunity yet to make full use of this lens, though I plan on using it for some unique action shots at wedding receptions as well as landscape photography.
Overall I'm very excited to add this lens to my collection!

I'm using this lens on a 7d and find that it has outperformed in every aspect so far. I was tempted to buy a wide angle zoom but opted for the prime based on the specs. I think that this was a good choice.

Comments about Canon Super Wide Angle EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM Autofocus Lens:
I have used this Lens every day since the first version came out in 91. Now I have version 2. For events there is no group shot you can't do in any small room. For artistic reasons you can give a whole new perspective on any shoot. I never leave the office with out this lens. On the weight of the lens most people don't realize that any canon L series is going to weigh more Because of the type of glass (Fluoride Glass) used. That said this lens does not weigh much for a L series lens I would argue the it light for a L series lens. O yea the sharpness Bokeh is Better than any wide lens this wide on the market.
If your in to qtvr this is a great lens to have. I shoot 6 across the top 6 across the bottom.
