The Joby Gorillapod is an ultra-versatile mini-tripod that can be used with lightweight compact cameras. Its three multi-segmented flexible legs can be formed to grip almost any protrusion, be it a branch, doorknob, rock, or uneven surface.
Each of the joints can bend and rotate 360°, to wrap around objects. The bottom rubber segment on the legs are larger to allow it to be used in the traditional way.
A mini quick release system allows for fast set-up and removal.

Your camera can slip on and off quickly, without risk of the hold not being stable enough.
Make sure the grip is strong before attaching your camera, and all is well!
I love this product, I'm thinking of getting the bigger version for my digital SLR!

I bought this tripod to use with a Flip Ultra HD. I was expecting a mini-version of the larger Gorillapod I use with my larger cameras. While it is smaller, it's not as functional as the larger versions. My biggest concern is that it's very easy to unscrew the plate from the tripod head. I worry I'm going to strip the threads one day. Maybe the joints are stiff b/c it's a new tripod but it's very difficult to do any pans or tilts.
Overall this is a handy tripod for still shots and placing the camera in nontraditional settings like a tree limb or bicycle. The plate-lock works well and it's a very small and lightweight piece of equipment.

My Joby Gorillapod is perfect for my Flip and my new Sony Bloggie. It offers the stability to take photos or video almost anywhere. The flexible legs work great. The mini-tripod is small enough to fit nearly anywhere. It's a versatile tool. I only wish I had purchased the one with the magnetic ends, for attaching to metal.

I take lots of delayed shots with friends from any nearby objects: poles, backs of chairs, tree branches, fences, cars, etc. Use it all the time to steady my hand for regular shots; just pull its legs together and camera has is atop its own little pole, keeping my arms steady at my sides. Everyone that sees it and uses it loves it and wants one for themselves. Like the optional colors. Took 4 years before joints got a little too loose, so got me a new one right away!

Great for setting up anywhere! No more awkwardly asking people to take a photo for you. Also works amazing for nighttime shots when you need to have the shutter speed open for a long time and also for HDR shooting.

I love travelling alone and I also love aking pictures of it. But don't you just hate when you ask someone for a picture and it turns out horrible? I'm not saying I'm not grateful for the kind people who offer to take a picture of me in an iconic place, but most of the time is not the best shot.
Since I got the Gorillapod I get the exact frame I'd like and bring home great pictures!

I guess for what its intended for it might be OK - that is almost nothing. I only purchased it because of the $15 rebate that basically let me get it for free upon buying the focus and the ballhead X. Go for the gusto and get the heavier products!

My nephew got a point-and-shoot for his birthday and this was a gift for Christmas. Within minutes he had his camera attached and had wrapped the gorilla pod around nearly everything in sight, trying to get good angles for his pictures. He's excited about wrapping it around a tree in his yard and filming his baseball pitching and batting this summer...
As for the gorilla pod--it holds the camera securely and allows incredible flexibility with regards to camera positioning. Highly recommended, for adults and 9-year-olds alike.
