The Joby Gorillapod is an ultra-versatile mini-tripod that can be used with lightweight compact cameras. Its three multi-segmented flexible legs can be formed to grip almost any protrusion, be it a branch, doorknob, rock, or uneven surface.
Each of the joints can bend and rotate 360°, to wrap around objects. The bottom rubber segment on the legs are larger to allow it to be used in the traditional way.
A mini quick release system allows for fast set-up and removal.

I've wanted one of these forever and finally bought one to go with my new digital camera. It's awesome! This little guy is super lightweight yet incredibly sturdy. The legs stay tightly locked in place whether wrapped around something or simply propped up on firm or not-so-firm ground. And I could not get over the mini quick-release plate. So tiny, but so easy to use! This is a really well designed product for simple still photography.

It's compact, it's pretty, it works perfectly... I'm very happy with my gorillapod.
Of course, it's a bit small so you definitely need something (a table, a tree, a rock, a car...) on top of which to put it if you don't want to take a picture of your feet, but it is really easy to find a place where you can grip it!

I haven't FULLY utilized it yet (our trip to New Zealand is in a couple weeks), but have tried to attach it to various items in our apartment. Works GREAT! My heavy FujiFilm makes it a bit top-heavy and it can be unstable, but with some adjustment, it's fine

I have one for my camera and love it, great for vacations when you want a self or group portrait. Bought this one for my 9 year old daughter who loves using it to take pictures. It is extremely rugged.

We had an interesting need for this as we were looking for something to attach a camera to the front bumper of an off-road vehicle to film the ride! This little guy hung on for dear life and did a great job :-) We did go ahead and use some zip ties to ensure that it wouldn't slide around as it seemed to get a little tippy once the vehicle started moving.

Great tripod for running around with a compact camera! Takes up almost no space in my camera bag or just my day to day bag, perfect for those "Dang, I wish I had a tripod!" moments. The quick release plate is a plus, it lives on my Canon S90. Bigger cameras require the more heavy duty version, I have one of those too. If you're thinking about buying one of these, stop thinking and just buy it - you won't regret it.

Fantastic way to carry a tripod without the bulk. This thing stands anywhere or grabs on anything to help you get in the shot or insure a still hold for those close ups. Works great on macro's in the field or as an extra set of hands when visiting family. Not so bulky that you can't stick it in a jacket pocket or even wrap it around on the strap. The green is bright enough not to be confused with ground clutter in case you're worried about losing it.

Got this item for my wife's SD850. I appears to be well made, the rubber on the legs is sticky enough that it holds onto even the smoothest of surfaces. The quick-disconnect was a feature I wasn't expecting, especially since it's relatively inexpensive. The only "problem" I found with it was that if it's wrapped around something vertical (like a table leg) the camera mount doesn't allow enough range of movement to get the camera to face anywhere but down. However, considering what it can do, and at this price, that's more of an inconvenience than a problem. A good product [...] made for a nice stocking stuffer for my wife.
