I purchesed a D300 from a friend and the rubber on the eyecup was worn off. It didn't need to be replaced in order to shoot, but I wanted to give my camera a fresh look considering that the used camera was new to me. I was super excited when I recieved the new eyecup, because it gave my DSLR a new look.

I lost my original one and this replacement one does the job. I do wish Nikon would redo their eyecups for the d300 because they pop off to easy.

Depending on how you carry your camera around these little buggers can slide off without you being any the wiser. I discovered at the end of a hike one day that my original eyepiece had done just that. Fortunately, the replacements aren't terribly expensive.

Lost my original eyecup when camera lens hood took a hit during sports activity...non of camera or lens functionality was interrupted (thanks to lens hood which had to be replaced) but a few months later noticed the eyecup was missing. The eyecup makes it easier to see the viewfinder display.

My Camera bag is a bit small for my D300s. Consequently, by pushing it in and puling it out, I tore the original eye cup. The new eye cup fits perfectly, so now I'm back in business. I guess next I'll have to get a new camera bag.
