Leica 75mm f/2.5 Summarit-M Manual Focus Lens (Black) USA
The Leica 75mm f/2.5 Summarit-M Lens is part of the Summarit-M class of affordable rangefinder lenses. These Summarit-M lenses are designed to offer traditional Leica optical and mechanical excellence, while positioned at a price level below the current M ASPH lenses. With a maximum aperture of f/2.5, and by applying classical and proven spherical lens designs, these lenses provide excellent quality. These features also result in a very compact design.
This lens has been updated with the "6-bit" coding, which allows the digital M camera to read this information optically and to identify which lens is being used. The camera can then (optionally) apply a "final stage" software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made).
- All letter and number engravings will be made using the traditional "Leitz-Norm" font as originally used by Leitz Wetzlar during the 1960's, and the red button on the lens mount will be true to the original color used on lenses produced since the introduction of the M mount through the 1970's.
- Includes "6-bit code" which allows the digital M8 camera to identify which lens is being used, and also to store this information in image metadata.
- High quality, fast, compact and lightweight.
- This 75mm lens f/2.5 aperture creates a shallow depth-of-field that brings attention to the subject and blurs the background, which is ideal for portraits and weddings. The 11-bladed circular diaphragm creates a pleasing look in out-of-focus areas (bokeh).
- Manufactured and marked "Made in Germany".

Like all Leica lenses, this is a fantastic lens. Particularly good for portraits used on a Leica M8 or M8.2 where the equivalent focal length is 100mm. There are no better lenses than Leica lenses. Here you have a chance to buy one that is reasonably priced.

I bought this lens for my M9. I already own a 35 Summarit and I am very pleased with both. Good price/value.
At 2,5, it is not the fastest lens but you get the Leica image quality.
Tiny lenses ideal for traveling, which is why I use the combo M9+Summarit.

I used this lens for 3 months and got excellent photographs. I am extremely pleased with the image quality, and the size and feel of the lens are just right. It would be nice if it had a hood built in.
Today the aperture ring came lose and made the lens unusable. I took it to Leica service for repair; the people were very friendly and helpful, but it is a shame that this happened. I hope this is just bad luck and Leica did not cut corners in quality.

I bought this lens for my M9 I was looking for a suitable lens for travel. I like the fact that this lens is very light, not bulky and the 75mm focal length is great for closeups. At f2.5 this is not a very fast lens but it is fast enough for my applications. Recommended.
