I purchased this lens cap for my 49mm filters that I use with a 52-49 step down ring for my Canon EOS 550d (T2i). I was looking for a 49mm Tamron lens cap but can't find one so I ordered this instead. I've very happy with this Sony lens cap. It's on par with my Tamron lens caps!

Amazing how a Sony cap makes your NEX-5 18-55mm lens look like new again. May have to think about cap leash in future; just happy that the original cap in back in place...

Just like the original. Having said that, it's a bit hard to release and tightly snap on (so it comes off in my carry-bag). I bought this with a generic 49mm lens cap, and sure enough--the generic cap is easier to release/tightly snap (however, the construction of the generic seems a bit weak).

After Sony's rootkit fiasco, I swore up and down that they would never get another dime from me...but I needed a 49mm center pinch lens cap, and this was the only option. It does what it's supposed to do, but I feel slimy for having bought it. Hopefully I'll never have to give them another penny 'til the day I die.

This lens cap fits both Sony and older Minolta autofocus lenses perfectly. It holds securely to the lens, even when being tossed around. The center pinch design works well, although I would prefer a textured plastic surface on the pinch to make it easier to grip when my fingers are dry. No problems whatsoever with durability - even in tough shooting conditions, it does a nice job of keeping blowing dust and light precipitation off the front lens element. The plastic is reasonably high-grade and can take its share of abuse. Easy to recommend to anyone looking for a quality, easy-to-use cap.
