Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk Paper for Inkjet has a baryta (barium sulphate) coated layer underneath the ink receiving layer equivalent to the structure of traditional fiber photographic paper base.
The media offers enhanced definition, extended tonal range, and excellent archival properties, all of which are important to the demanding professional digital photographer and printer.
Coated fiber papers have a unique look and feel, which has become a standard among art photographers worldwide over the course of more than a century.

I have been using this product to print black and white photographs. I am thrilled with the results. The clarity of the image, its ability to hold a range of values. This paper has a very smooth texture and is very similar to some of the fiber based papers I have used in the wet darkroom.
The only other thing that I should add is that this paper is somewhat warmer than I expected. Personally, I like the effect it has on my images; it fits quite well with my style, but I could certainly see some people being displeased by the lack of bright white.
Overall though, I am very pleased, and I plan to continue using this paper for quite some time.

I had read some really good comments about this paper so i gave it a try. I got very small lines of missing ink at various spots on the paper. Not very much - but certainly enough to notice and make my prints unusable. I am using an Epson 2200 so maybe my issues are with the combination of this older printer and this paper but I don't see this with other prints and I do a lot of printing on a variety of glossy and matte papers.

Comments about Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk Paper (Letter, 8.5 x 11" - 10 Sheets):
Testing this for laminating prints behind a UV barrier. This means that the paper should have no optical brighteners as claimed by Ilford. The paper fluoresces under UV light a bit as compared to natural fiber based papers, so this claim is suspect. Good surface and handling in Epson 9900 with UltraChrome inks.

Well, I don't see any "gold" or "silk" in this paper, but it's still very, very nice when making prints on a Stylus Pro 4900.

I am really enjoying this paper and several other papers that use baryta. They have the look and feel of traditional papers that i used in my darkroom. The one problem with these papers is that they scratch easily.

We have used this paper for large format tone-mapped images. Excellent luminosity.

I tried this paper after reading all the reviews on it. I like this paper, but like Harman FB AI more. For the price this is pretty good.

After doing numerous paper tests on Epson 4800's 7800's, and 9800's, Ive found this paper to be my favorite digital paper. The surface is wonderful, although extremely sensetive. It has as rich a black as Harman, Moab, or Museo, and better local contrast. Love it!

Comments about Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Silk Paper (Letter, 8.5 x 11" - 10 Sheets):
This paper, as good as it is, is misnamed. The surface is not silk, but rather similar to the old f-surface darkroom photo papers when left to air-dry. I've found it to print well, and deliver a pleasant tonal range that includes a rich black and natural-looking paper white.

Gold Fibre Silk has the look and feel
of a fiber based paper--not inkjet. Thank you Ilford.
