Wrapped in a lovely wooden frame, this Aluratek Digital Picture Frame is a bright 11" display that includes a removeable 1GB SD card to store all sorts of multimedia files for show. The wireless remote can control the flow of files, and menu operations that include a scheduler to automatically activate the display at specified intervals. If the 1GB of memory is not enough storage, capacity can be augmented by the multi card reader or the USB ports unobtrusively hidden behind the lip of the wooden frame. Using the included stand, the frame can rest on a desk/table top or mantle place as well as being simply wall mounted by placing it on a nail or screw.

Strong part: Very good value. It is not a replacement for a calibrated monitor, but it can be adjusted to give pleasing displays. Images varies strongly with viewing angle, like many laptops. Blacks are a bit weak. Remote control is convenient.
Odd part: It is called a 1024x768 pixel screen, but the screen really has an aspect ration of 16:9 total. There is an option to choose 16x9 or 4x3 aspect ratios for display. Can't tell what the real pixel count is.
Weak part: The order of photos displayed is in the order copied to the memory! That makes organizing the display a challenge. Recommend to put various images into folders. Then the order of display is by the order of copying the folder to memory, and within a folder by the order in which images are copied into a folder. The the date and time stamp of the images is irrelevant.

The Aluratek 11" Digital Picture Frame was extremely easy to use. The unit has built-in memory and comes with a 1 gb SD card.
This is my first digital frame so I don't have a point of comparison. However, the unit appears to have a fairly narrow vertical optimum viewing angle and is best viewed "head on". We are using the unit in the easel position and had to move it downward by two feet to avoid picture distortion. This was an easy logistical problem for us to overcome, but it might not be for others.
When turned on, the frame defaults to the "Photo" mode. It was be nice if there was an option to have it default to the "Slideshow" mode, but this is a minor inconvenience. The bottom line: my wife and I are thoroughly enjoying the 11" viewing size and reminiscing.

Comments about Aluratek 11" Hi-Res Digital Picture Frame (Wood):
I gifted two of these (loaded with photos I had taken) to two wedding couples. The photo images are sharp, operation of the frames is simple and the wooden frames of very nice quality. I am happy with the purchase.
One of the two 1 gig SD cards was nonfunctional, however.

Great way to show off family pictures in the living room. Good size: shows off photos without being obtrusive. Versatile in the types and sizes of files it displays. Couldn't get it to display video files, even though it's supposed to.

The display of on this unit was not crisp compared to other frames I have seen. But even worse was a manufacturing defect in the outer plastic screen. When the unit was powered up, the defect showed as a bright ridge at the edge of the viewable screen. I found the defect to be so vivid, it distracted from the image, and I returned this unit.[...]

very nice frame. I love the size for the price. I paid what most 7 inch frames cost and its high res image is clear as my computer monitor.

Larger picture area than most for the price. Easy to load and use. Works with either 120AVC or 240VAC so it can be used overseas.

It is really helpful that the 1 GB sd card comes with the package. I was able to pull all the components out of the box and put it together easily with the instructions. I downloaded my pictures to the card and the picture frame operated with them smoothly.

Comments about Aluratek 11" Hi-Res Digital Picture Frame (Wood):
this is actually a 16:9 display so you loose about 1" of the display at the bottom and if your pics are in 3:4 format then you get black borders on both sides. the picture on the website isn't really accurate as you're left with a much smaller viewing area.

This frame is great, we bought it as a gift for family member (who is a professional photographer) and she loved it! It is everything she wanted, plus it has a bigger screen then what she had asked for. we compared for about two weeks before finding this frame. Best size, quality, options, and price!

I got this picture frame for my mother as a birthday gift and found it extremely easy to use. The only problem I have with it is that it plays the photos in alpha/numerical order and has no random function. Otherwise I think it's great.
