The Gary Fong Puffer Pop-Up Flash Diffuser is for use on almost any SLR camera that has a hot shoe and pop-up flash. It has a convex, dimpled white diffuser front that softens and disperses the light from your camera's pop-up flash.
The height of the Puffer is adjustable. Its twin prongs fit into any of the eight sets of holes at the rear of the diffuser. This makes it adaptable to almost any type camera that features a pop-up flash and a hot shoe.

I'm not a big flash user, preferring natural lighting whenever possible (I'll spend money on a lens vs flash unit any day). That being said the built in flash on my olympus e-420 is to direct and harsh. This diffuser is a great solution and improves the image quality of those times when I need a flash. I think it reduces the flash range just a tad. One thing to note is you do not need to jam the diffuser all the way into the flash mount - I go about halfway. Hope that helps. Cheers.
The only way it would be better is if they made a more expensive option that was made of aluminum or some other material stronger than the abs plastic they use.

I wanted to like this product, I really did. I am a Nikon shooter, and tried this on my D300, D200, D70 and CP 5700. First, it kills your range of an already limited power popup flash to make it useful for work no more than about 6-8 ft away. Forget using it for outdoor fill, not enough pop...but to be fair, the popup does not work that well by itself in that situation.Personally, I found myself grabbing my SB-800 because I really did want the quality more than the convenience and very limited use. Others may be less picky and more about convenience.Bottom line, if you want to shoot a face or 2 at 6-8 ft away with softened light...MUCH better than open flash...Puffer delivers. Do not expect much more out of this item.On the Nikons, it fooled the metering and required that I adjust EV by +1/3 to +1 to match the open flash exposure, so it is not immediately convenient either. The SB with diffusers are automatically metered correctly, as it Gary Fong's Lightsphere, a product I really love.Construction is OK, 2 pieces but you have to take them apart to make them compact in your bag....but hey, it is only [$].

I don't use this for when doing my professional portraits, but it is great for taking nice pictures of the family, etc. It diffuses the light, so that the flash is not so harsh. Very satisfied with the outcome.

This is my second one--I like the first one so well I bought another for a second camera. I was using an empty pudding cup over my on-camera flash as a diffuser, and it was okay, but this is much better and looks better.

A good item to carry in your camera bag. It diffuses light (somewhat) and reduces hot spots. Just be careful not to lose the diffuser (I did).

great for beginning photographers. Good alternative to buying a hot shoe flash. Eliminates hot spots buy not the same features as a hot shoe flash. Overall a good item to have as back up. It's flexibility with various brands is also a plus.

Well, it works! In fact, it doesn't eliminate shadows completely - it just makes them softer. But taking into account the price - it is a worthy product.

I love to use this to take pictures of my Godson, I can get up close without having harsh lighting. I would recomend this in wedding phoptography to take up close pictures as well. I gave it a weak construction because the base is actually plastic but the actual diffuser is really well constructed. Its easy to assemble and pack in your camera bag. I have already recommended it to my friends.

If you use the pop up flash on your camera this is a must have accessory. I'm sure you know how harsh and shadow filled pics taken with the built in flash can look. Once you slide this on an see how nice an even the lighting looks you won't believe it or want to use your built in flash without it I Love It!!!

It does slightly help ease the flash from my Canon 60D's pop up flash, but it's really more trouble to get it out and put it on than to use it. The difference is very slight on a subject. Might as well save your money for a real strobe flash.

Leave it to Gary Fong to come up with another great idea for the built in flash on your cameras. I use an external flash, but sometimes I don't have it with me, so I reach for the puffer pop-up flash diffuser and it works great. Give it a try for yourself!

Nice little diffuser comes in handy for those times when you need a little more pop from the on camera flash. I see the reason it is in 2 pieces but would be nice if it was one piece. Less likely to get lost in the camera bag.

I love this little accessory. I would never use it for a professional photo shoot because I would never use my pop-up flash for a pro shoot, but for those quick candid family moments this does wonders for your photos because it reduces the harsh lighting results you get with a flash. It's easy to use and install, easy to pack around, but does a nice job of improving your photos.

Comments about Gary Fong Puffer Pop-Up Flash Diffuser:
I, like many with a digital SLR, like the convenience of the built-in speedlight, but not the harsh, defined shadows. After noodling around with some home-made solutions, I came across The Puffer. I have to say that if you do the work to adjust your exposure a little bit and understand the limitations, this is some of the best money you'll spend. It does its job very consistently.

Comments about Gary Fong Puffer Pop-Up Flash Diffuser:
I bought this for my wife for her 30d. Works great, no harsh light, it really warmed up the pictures quite well. The only thing I didn't like about it, and this is really being picky is that it's a little bulky where if you have a small camera bag you might not have the room to put it. But other than that, it's great. Especially the price.
