I'd give it 5-stars if it was as cheap as the non-genuine ones but you hardly need to take out a bank loan to get these from B&H anyway.

New primary battery, exactly as expected
New primary battery - puts the standard battery in the back-up slot. It's all good, nothing stellar. I recommend it.

Comments about Sony NP-FM500H InfoLithium Battery (7.2V, 1650mAh):
Original manufacturers equipment. Even though the Sony A 580 DSLR came with a long life Lithium battery, experience has taught that batteries run low at the worst possible times (Murphy's Law). I don't like to use third party manufacturer batteries in any of my cameras. You really don't save anything if a non-OEM battery fails when you really need reliable power.

Comments about Sony NP-FM500H InfoLithium Battery (7.2V, 1650mAh):
To backup the Sony A580/battery.
It has a pretty good reservoir energy, literally I can shoot a couple hundreds of shots.
There is not much negative, except the price.

Sony batteries work best. I've tried third party batteries and they don't last for as many pictures and they don't maintain their ability to hold a charge as well. The NP-PM500H is worth every penny.
Oh yes, it works in my A100 as well as my new A77.

a functional spare battery as needed. it works perfectly, but i raise an eyebrow as this battery is for my sony a550, and i own an a100 that has the same battery except for the notch down the center of this battery. in all their infinite marketing wisdom, sony disallows the use of previous incarnations of the same battery simply by incorporating the notch. read: make more money. i'm not complaining too loudly though. it's just a bit disingenuous on sony's part.

Always better to buy original for an extra accessory, especially batteries which would be placed inside your camera. This part fits perfectly, no complaints about it.

bought another battery for a spare to go with the two for my Sony A200 with grip, the batteries are great, they hold a charge very long and the life of the battery is excellent! one of the best batteries on the market in my opinion

Extra batteries are a must have when it comes to all day shoots. I just completed an all day shoot with my Canon 7D and CLM-V55. Chewed through only one battery and quick cycle time had this battery ready for use long before my spare was depleted.

Comments about Sony NP-FM500H InfoLithium Battery (7.2V, 1650mAh):
Just bought Sony A700 and realised the Battery I had for A330 can't be used for it.
Had previous bad experience with aftermarket batteries where it failed to provide battery status and hold charge. Sony info-lithium batteries never fail me once with my A330.
Was an easy decision to make for backup battery.

Comments about Sony NP-FM500H InfoLithium Battery (7.2V, 1650mAh):
I've relied on Sony batteries since the early 80's and they've never let me down. (I STILL have a working NP-1!) These camera batteries are no exception. I shoot w/the a580 and get a respectable hang time on these babys. Add to that a fast charge rate and you have a winner.
