I was excited to buy my flip Ulta HD, and it was easy to shoot and see on the camera itself,
the problem came when trying to get the software to operate. I must have tried 5 quick fixes from tech support, and not one worked, switched to a different computer and same problem. In the end I returned for a refund, If all I wanted was a small video camera I could use my blackberry!
I would try the flip again , but maybe in 3 generations , just too many bugs for it to be fun.

Pro: Taking decent quality videos was a snap. Simple controls. A good little camcorder for those quick to capture moments.

Con: Did not turn out to be a simple plug and play process on my Win XP Home PC. Software set-up got hung up and I discovered that it was a common enough issue that a ready solution was already provided on the Flip's support site. Second time around still did not work so I installed the updated software first, then connected and, even after receiving an error, it appears to be working fine now.

Caution: If you're going to simply copy the videos from the folder on The Flip to a folder on your PC, make sure that you have all the right codecs installed on your PC (Divx and Directx 9.0c runtime, being two). Without these installed, movies created through Windows Movie Maker (saved as ".wmv") did not turn out (audio only, no video).

I read a review that this woman bought it for her 10 year old and he was able to easily use it. And believe me, it's totally true. It takes great footage, is easy to download and is so much fun! I'm glad I picked up one. Plus, B&H has such a great deal. [...] Lowest price around. There's nothing bad I can say about this product--I'm a photographer and I'm really picky about my equipment. The Flip Camera totally gets a 5-star rating from me.

This is the fourth camcorder I've owned. It was the cheapest in cost and fewest in features compared with the others--all Sony's--but in the few weeks I've owned it I've had more fun than with any of the older, fancier machines. The Flip is little, so I take it everywhere. Yesterday it rode in the front pocket of my ski pants on a perfect Montana powder day. I shot my 9-year-old daughter skiing some chutes. When I got home I plugged Flip into the iMac and quickly edited five shots into a short movie, adding a title and music with the included software, and sent it off to her grandmother and aunt. So fast, so easy. No, this is not the highest quality video and if you are looking for that look elsewhere. But it is simply simple and fun.

The camera itself seems to take decent pictures for the price. The software refuses to work on 2 of 4 computers I've tried it on. The 3vix integration causes it to crash. Others have the same issue, but there is no solution, and tech support can't do anything other than read a scripted list of things to try.

I would recommend the camera but be warned, the FlipShare software may or may not work.

I carry my flip everywhere I go. I have recorded moments I would have never recorded before and it's very easy. I have shared moments with my boyfriend, he would have missed if not for the flip. My boyfriend is currently serving in Iraq and this just gives me another way in staying in touch. Who ever created the flip is a genius!

This camera is great and is really easy to use. The controls on it make sense, and you can easily just plug it right into your computer and download the movies, similar to a USB flash drive. It also comes with the cord so you can playback using the RCA Jacks on your TV.

Negatives:
Doesn't have a microphone port to plug in an external mic.

Can't view picture using the RCA Jack while recording.

The products does a good job according to its specification. Easy and Simple to use is its main advantage. I just wanted a good camcorder which is easy to use and records decent video quality. Thats exactly what this does.

I bought this camcorder specifically to videotape my daughter's wedding ceremony without being conspicuous. I put it on a tripod, pressed record, zoomed in to frame the ceremony and forgot about it.The video looks good on a 32" lcd. For [$] you can't beat it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a compact recorder with very acceptable quality as a way to record events or just spontaneous situations.

Bought this for my 10 yo future film maker and it was up and running and being viewed on the TV within minutes...no help from me. It is a simple video camera with just the basics (a kid doesn't need all that other stuff) and B&H had a great price [...] Color and sound were both good. Have not connected it to my Mac yet but also bought this model as it s/b compatible.

Most media these days don't have to be presented in high definition. This camera is standard definition at 4:3. I've purchased this with the underwater case (which is really just for the rain since the camera conked out from the condensation from swimming at the beach). It dried out after 2 weeks & worked. The camera remarkably white balances automatically. I was about to send it back to the insurance company (it had stopped working from the underwater ocean swim) but after 2 weeks it's working again.

I love that it is so small and inexpensive, but still has fairly good quality audio and video. I liked it so much I've given them as gifts. My daughter in college uses it to record lectures with the video to study, my son uses it to record parkour videos and upload them to youtube.

I use it for work when checking out locations I am going to shoot professionally, and have also sent it to remote locations to record small amounts of video for presentations.

It would be nice if it had a firewire upload to make it faster, but the software on the camera is great because you can use it on any computer, mac or pc. It would also be nice if once you have connected the camera, the computer retained the software, so it didn't have to load every time. It is still worth the price.

I keep this in my purse to have anytime I'm out with my kids. It's easy to use and allows easy emailing of short video clips to friends and family. Easy to plug into the TV and watch together. Pictures and sound are very good--esp considering the size! I love the AA batteries also!

great quality but having problems with software - I loaded the software OK into my laptop but have been unable to do the same on my new desktop. The help response from the manufacturer has been very poor - they only send "form" responses, never anything personally to me - very frustrating!

I purchased this product for an easy way to capture videos of family and to create a video podcast. Not only was it delivered in a timely fashion, but I was also impressed with the price. The camera is so simple to use, even my 4 year old can take great videos. I have yet to find anything that I am unhappy with...this is a winner.
