This Acratech Quick Release Plate is specifically designed to securely hold the Canon 40D camera.
Compatible with any "Arca-Swiss" type quick release system (e.g. Arca-Swiss, Foba, Graf, Wimberley, etc.), this plate is precision machined from T-6 aluminum, features a satin black anodized finish, and is "made in the USA".

Very nice quick release plate. Attaches firmly to my Canon 50D, no play and no sign of loosening even in "difficult" positions with semi-heavy lenses. Not sure I'm so happy about the matte finish, though, it sort of goes against the semi-matte camera body, but of course that is a very minor detail. A bit expensive for what it is.
But in the end: Higly recommended.

This plate works with both my Acratech V2 Ballhead and my Really Right Stuff ballhead. Well made, solid, fits the 40D like a glove.
The only thing missing that the RRS plate has is a threaded hole in the bottom so a camera with plate attached can be screwed into a monopod or a tabletop tripod without taking the plate off.

I have the plate mounted onto my vertical grip on my EOS 40D. Since it is not very thick I can still hold the grip very securley in my hand.
My Arca Swiss Ballhead holds this plate good and fast.
