Comments about MXL USB Mic Mate - Preamp and USB Interface:
Recently I upgraded computers and my old mic preamp is not supported by Windows 7. The USB Mic Mate solved the problem at a reasonable cost. It was truly plug-and-play. Audio quality is excellent with my microphone. The small size of this device gave me back a large chunck of desk space taken up by my old preamp.

Comments about MXL USB Mic Mate - Preamp and USB Interface:
Used this with a condenser mic to set up a quick home studio. It works as expected and the audio signal was not adversely affected in any way that I could tell. On a windows laptop, it worked for us the instant it was plugged in. I appreciate the simplicity!

I record professional voice overs, and needed an easy way to deliver phantom power to my mic while traveling. The Mic Mate not only delivers the power, but also offers a clean preamp as well. It's small size is perfect for traveling, and once I configured my software to recognize it as a USB connection, it was plug-and-play.On top of all of that, it's [$]

Comments about MXL USB Mic Mate - Preamp and USB Interface:
Buyer ... be(a)ware. I made the mistake of overlooking the fact that this is for use with CONDENSER MICS ONLY. I have a dynamic mic that I wanted to use to go into my laptop computer without using a preamp. Wrong! I am still using a preamp BUT I AM able to use the USB capability therefore bypassing the sound card of the computer (which was not giving me the quality I needed). It's working great now ... but, again, only by going through a preamp.
