Logic Express 8 allows for playback of AAC and Apple Lossless files directly with no need for conversion. This feature ensures project compatibility with Garageband and offers great sonic quality with the convenience of smaller file sizes. It also allows access to GarageBand compatible plug-ins.

- Freeze Tracks feature releases CPU resources by invisibly rendering tracks
- Includes more than 790 professionally designed channel strip settings, each combining Logic Express instruments and effects in a powerful plug-in chain
- Import and export of XML, AAF, OMF and OpenTL files for convenient round-trip interchange with Final Cut Pro and a wide variety of professional music applications and hardware
- GarageBand projects can be opened directly in Logic Express. Projects can also be seamlessly moved between Logic Express and Logic Pro
- Dedicated music-for-picture features make scoring and sound design easy. Synchronized QuickTime movies can be viewed directly within the interface or via the use of a separate monitor with a range of output options, including Digital Cinema Desktop for high-definition playback
