I bought this to use on a one week trip through Spain. It was great for carrying my camera (Nikon D80) and lenses in the bottom compartment, a laptop in the custom slot (I like to view photos and stay connected to the web while on vacation), and the general cargo compartment had enough storage for a small jacket, travel books, and other small necessities. I didn't feel like the bag was an advertisement that I had expensive camera gear within. I dropped the bag a few times with no ill effects to my electronics! I also had some serious rain storms catch us in the open and everything remained dry. It could use more small pockets/compartments. From now on if I plan to take my camera on an outing this bag will go with me.

This bag is well made and probably can stand up to heavy loads but when fully loaded it was too much for me.
I am a 5' foot female, middle aged (whatever that means). With my XTI, three lenses, assorted gadgets, and then my laptop with power brick, it was more than I could handle on my back or my shoulder.
For me personally, I will be keeping my camera gear in my camera bag and my laptop in my laptop bag. In the future, I may explore lighter fabrics for a combo-bag but that option exceeded my budget at this time.
If you can handle the weight, the bag is well made and provides lots of room.

Used it on a trip with family and friends. It worked very nicely, used as a carry on to hold laptop (13 inch MacBook), camera (with three lens), and kindle and still had extra room left over.

Although I'm primarily a computer programmer at my company, I also do some photography for them and carry this bag to work daily. I have a Canon EOS 50D which fits in the bag easily with a battery grip but I mostly carry my Canon EOS Rebel T2i (550D) with a battery grip, a Canon 15-85 lens attached, a Canon 60mm macro, and Canon 430 EX II flash. There's plenty of room for additional batteries and SD cards as well as a hand-held device, my journal, my lunch, and a light jacket. The pocket in the back easily holds my Dell vostro laptop.
This bag is solid and well-made, as you'd expect from Tamrac, and carries easily. And, this bag doesn't shout, "Camera gear inside".
I believe a waist belt and sternum strap would be all I might add but overall, I'm very pleased with this backpack.

I was looking for a camera bag that could double as a daypack. This bag meets this criteria. Good features include that the camera section can be totally reconfigured (or removed) to gain more daypack space. If you can pack lightly, it is possible to get a camera or two (a DSLR plus a smaller camera) plus clothing for several days and, thus, eliminate the need to carry two bags.

I really like this bookbag. I have a Nikon D90 and like to carry it around with me all the time and this bag, with its padded enclosure always me to do so safely. I can also fit my 17" laptop into it as well. I feel that the pocket was designed for slimmer laptops though such as the 17" MacBook Pro. Mine does still fit though. Because of the size of my laptop, the bookbag can sometimes be a little uncomfortable on my back, but not ever that bad. With a smaller laptop, it should feel just fine. I wish the compartment for other things was a little bigger, but I understand that the way the bag is designed, there's only so much room. Other than that, I still do enjoy this bag and would recommend it to anyone!

I use this Photo/Laptop backpack to carry my laptop and camera/equipment while traveling with my family. Since I need my hands free and be able to carry as much stuff in as few bags as possible this bag fits the bill perfectly. I have a big 17" laptop and when I need to bring it along this bag is great. I also like the fact that it doesn't stand out as a camera bag, which is good when traveling and you don't want unsolicited attention. A few things that could be improved are to add D-ring accessory loops on the shoulder straps and a removable waist strap. A chest strap wouldn't be bad either for when you really overload it. Also, zippers with a lock loop would be great to secure your expensive equipment. These are just extras that would make the bag 5 stars. I would definatly recommend this bag to a friend.

We use the Laptop backpack to carry our laptop and camera while travelling on and off rotation as well as on hollidays. It's very comfortable to have in one backpack two necessary things while travelling. We have a quite big laptop Dell 17" widescreen and it was very difficult to find a proper size bag and this one resolved all our probs. The only thing is that the backpack is cumbersome, but still it is a minor issue.

This backpack is great for day trips or short hauls where you need to carry just one body and some lenses and accessories. The laptop compartment carries my 15" MacBookPro in its own carrying case, adding extra protection. I additional pocket on top carries all wires, iPod, magazines and ticket.
So, overall, this is a very functional product. I highly recommend it.

I purchased this bag to take along with me while I am in Afghanistan workng for the US Army, I needed a bag that would carry all my photo gear and my laptop on helicopters. It has plenty of room to pack a days worth of clothing and all my camera gear, plus my latop. I did have my camera and laptop in a Pelican case but found it to large to take with me most of the time. This bag fits the bill very nicely. The shoulder straps are well padded for long days and you have enough room to take along clothing or a meal. The quality and craftmanship are excellent. Not a speck of dust on the inside, this place is the dusty enviroment I have ever take my gear. This will be the bag I take everywhere.[...].B&H and Tamrac have a customer for LIFE!

This is a good bag, but I returned it because it did not quite fit my needs. While the main equipment compartment is fine for a camera, 2-3 lenses, and a flash, I found the upper compartment to be a bit small for my needs (I'm quite needy). And when fully loaded, including a laptop, I could not get the straps adjusted properly so that it felt comfortable against my back. It wasn't the weight that was the problem, it was the alignment. I give it a qualified recommendation, but it's not for me.

Got this bag in time for our trip to San Diego, Santa Barbara and Portland, OR. Am on the trip right now! Bag holds all my camera gear: Nikon D50 body and three lenses (Tokina 16-50; Nikon 55-200 VR; Tamron 70-300 with 1.4 telex); plus hoods, polarizers, cords, extra battery and charger, SB60 flash with off-camera wires and holder. Don't have a laptop, so there's even MORE storage. As a "second" bag for carry-on, airliners stow it easily. MY only complaint is that you can put so much stuff in it, it gets a little heavy. But when you've reached your destination and take out the extra stuff, it's a great day bag and very comfortable to wear. Haven't used it in the rain, yet, and might be tempted to cover it with a plastic bag for extra water tightness, but we'll see. And I wouldn't want to "dis" another company, but their own bag, [...] made this bag a shoo-in!

Enough room for camera and three lens and flash. I wish there were straps for a tripod (the reason for only 4 stars). Good protection. Zippers seem long lasting.

I haven't had this bag very long but I've already flown with it. I had the camera section full, laptop in its place, and the top storage compartment full and it still fit under the seat on the airline. I have been hiking around with it all day today and it has been quite comfortable to carry. Best bag I've found in a while.

I am able to hold my 15.4 widescreen laptop, a large body D70s nikon with kit lens 18-70 attached, a 55-200 telephoto, a standard 50mm, a teleconverter, and a 50mm macro. In the upper section I am allowed to carry multiple items, wires and the such without any hassle. I use this mostly for riding around on my motorcycle, so strapping it down is not a warry with the soft shell.

I used to own a different Tamrac bag but after purchasing a laptop I wanted to avoid carrying 2 bags when we traveled.
I purchased this bag for the purpose of carrying my camera equipment, my laptop, and I can also store my camcorder in the other section!

Well this bag works for me.....I have a Rebel XTi with the 18-55mm lens, also with a 580 ex II, and a 70-300 IS lens. it works great all my stuff fits even accessories but if you have more than I do i think it might be too small. The extra pouch for miscellaneous stuff comes in good use. I dont own a laptop yet but I got this bag for when im heading off to college and ill need it. So great bag, I love it. Good Buy!!!!
