The Panasonic PT-AX200U projector is ideal for watching sports events or playing video games in daytime conditions or for viewing movies in a dark room. The powerful 2,000-lumen brightness and new Light Harmonizer 2 technology make it easy for you to enjoy vibrant, dynamic images even if you don't have a special theater room. Panasonic's advanced technologies improve color reproduction accuracy in movies, to deliver images with a refined "Hollywood picture quality," making this projector ideal for your home cinema system.
The projector features Panasonic's Light Harmonizer 2 technology, which produces vivid and easy to see images even in the kind of bright lighting that makes images from other projectors look whitish, faded or lacking in detail. In addition, it has a built-in ambient light sensor (ALS) that measures the amount of light in your room to optimize the picture quality at different lighting conditions. Light Harmonizer 2 circuit not only adjusts the gamma curve, but also controls iris setting, lamp power, and picture sharpness to maintain easy, comfortable viewing at all times.

MOTION BLUR - decent.
The first test I did was Lord of the Rings: Two Towers to see some battle scenes for motion blur. This projector has a 0.9ms delay but I can still tell the blur. My last projector was a DLP and you really can't beat a DLP for action scenes. I got used to the AX200U but still bothers me sometimes, wishing that it was a DLP, oh well.
DETAILS, BRIGHTNESS, and COLORS
The detail on the dark cave where Gandalf is fighting the Balrog while falling is excellent.
I can have the room lights on and it is still very bright if I use the Dynamic Mode. I can actually watch a show with the lights on. This replaces my now 3 years old DLP which has 1000 lumens, and the AX200U feels 4x brighter somehow. What really amazed me though were the colors, very bright and vivid with great skin tones right out of the box in CINEMA1 mode. Colors just popped out while watching shows like CARS from Pixar.
GAME MODE and SHARPNESS versus 1080P.
So my friend brought over his PS3 and we played some CALL OF DUTY. According to him (who has a 50" 1080P LCD TV) the AX200U is as sharp as his TV. I am projecting a 100" screen and 4-player multiplayer is very fun as each screen is the equivalent of his 50" TV. He said he sees more detail from my projector than from his TV. I haven't played it much in a 1080P so I can't compare but he says that he can't believe my projector is only 720P because he can't tell the difference when playing the game. Another friend who played with us now wants to buy this projector as well (he was looking to buy a 1080P TV and a PS3) I say it was a good buy.
The down side is that now, my 480p Nintendo Wii looks like 16-bit Super Nintendo Graphics... I can see how bad the graphics are on the Wii, so much more because the quality of this projector is so good haha.
INSTALLATION - EXCELLENT.
You can actually place this projector 0.5 times the screen higher/lower/left/right from the center of where you are projecting and the LENS SHIFT option will make it fit perfectly without using any keystone adjustments (as long as you can have the projector horizontal without any angle up/down/tilted.) This was my biggest worry because I already had a mount located to match my previous projector and the lens location was on the right for the previous and it is on the left for the AX200U which means a foot or so shift to the left. But the lens shift just works excellently. Fear nothing when it comes to installation. I have it set up about 15 feet away and projects a 100" screen easily. At maximum zoom, I think I can do a 200" screen easily, and some of my friends were bugging me to just go all the way (I have a high ceiling) and it would have been great, as it covered a LOT of the wall and it felt like a movie theater really. But that would mean I have to build another screen and I'm too lazy for that. 100" is big enough to get quite a good view.
REMOTE CONTROL
Easiest remote control I've seen. The backlit keys help a lot. Make sure to read the manual so you know what all those options mean.
NOISE, HEAT.
I can't hear the fan at all, I actually hear my computer more than the projector. The heat that comes out though is VERY hot, not warm, HOT. I feel the heat but at least I don't hear it. Also the heat won't affect the image because the vents don't point DOWN or UP like most projectors I've seen, they point AWAY from the lens. The lens is on the left and the heat is blown left from the front. If you ever experienced heat distortion from a projector you know Panasonic used a great design.
BUY THIS!!!
our church has a 5000lumen LCD projector (for business) and although the AX200U loses in brightness, the colors just can't be beat.

I don't usually write reviews, but I strongly felt this is worth informing as many people as possible. I read all the reviews on the Panasonic PT-AX200U projector and they all looked good, so I bought one. For me, I wanted the best possible resolution and highest lumens without spending thousands of dollars. I bought this in May, 2008 for [$] At the beginning of this January, I went to turn it on and heard a loud bang and it wouldn't power up. Now you should know that I am incredibly meticulous when it comes to my electronic equipment. This machine has been cared for like a baby and has only been used for 525 hours (approx. ¼ bulb life) so it is impossible that I caused any problem with the machine. So I called Panasonic Projector Customer Support. They were unsure what could be wrong, so they had me send it to their outsourced provider, Heartland Diversified, for repair ($130 diagnostic fee, but it goes toward any repair costs). Heartland notified me that the cost of the repair would be $1265 (recall the cost of the new projector, which by the way, can now be bought new for $999). Since this warranty just expired, they said any dispute would have to be with Panasonic directly. This is where the disaster begins, if it wasn't already disappointing enough that the projector broke so quickly. Customer Service at Panasonic is a nightmare. You can never get past front line customer support personnel (who have no decision-making authority) to management and all conversations end with the refrain "We will have to get back to you in 24-72 hours" which never happens, thus requiring yet another call to customer support . Bottom line is I wanted them to stand behind their product regardless of warranty because a projector should not completely break after a year and a half. They say they are escalating the request but then tell me that the request is going to the same original person, John [...]. They will absolutely not let you talk directly to anyone and will not give out email addresses or phone numbers (or last names, but one of the reps slipped, so I got this one). This issue has now been going on for two months and Heartland is threatening to take possession of the projector at the 60 day mark. I have even written to Robert [...], the EVP of Panasonic Consumer Products, and have gotten no response. After easily 20 hours of being on the phone with Mike (three times), Jabin, Ben, Tom, Leela, Ranita, and the people at Heartland, I am getting nowhere and feel incredibly frustrated to the point that I will not buy another Panasonic product and cannot recommend a Panasonic product to anyone. Even when I look back at other Panasonic products I have had (stereo, boom box, clock radio, microwave), every single one has had something break quickly. They haven't become unusable but there is always something – a button doesn't work, it doesn't turn off, a door doesn't close, etc.In summary, I believe this is not just a poor product quality issue, but Panasonic has a major customer service issue to which I can only say "Buyer Beware."

I use this on my wall with off-white eggshell finish paint. Wow! LCD what? Plasma who? I can fit four 52"flat screens into my screen area. Easier on the eyes than panel tv's too.
As my mom said, "It changes the tv watching experience." As my boy with the same projector calls his apartment now, "the mini-max" lol.
This is my first projector and after 6mons/1500 hrs, I love it. Makes coming home from a long days work the best lol. Life was meant to be projected.

I bought this projector strictly to game, and I'm not disappointed. Unbelievable HD picture. The projector is in a room where there is always ambient light and it doesn't matter, the picture is bright and clear. I might have to quit my job.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AX200U LCD Projector:
My Optoma EP750 died after seven years. The cost of repair was as much as or more than the cost to replace the unit entirely. My research indicated the Panasonic unit would best meet my needs, even though there were other brands that cost less. Not only was the B&H price excellent, their reputation meant I knew if I had any problems, they would stand behind the product. (As would Panasonic.) I was able to use the existing ceiling mount by the simple task of buying a 7x10 inch sheet of 1/4-inch aluminum and drilling the appropriate holes to match with the projector and with the old mounting plate. I used spacers on the bolts to give me some extra working room. The existing cables plugged into the back of the Panasonic, a few minor adjustments, and now I find I can enjoy TV or DVR etc during daylight hours that made the Optoma virtually unusable. I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AX200U LCD Projector:
This projector has it all! 1. 720p native resolution, but accepts 1080p and downscales for you - 95% of all video games, even for 360 and PS3 support 720p max, so this is perfect. I never bought in to the idea of spending $30+ on a Blu-Ray disc, so I don't care about true 1080p. Watching downloaded movies in 720p looks incredible, as does questionable "1080i" content from my cable box/DVR.2. It's really bright!!! You can use this projector with the lights on and it still looks great. But of course with the lights off it looks much better, but I was impressed. My last projector, the Optoma [...] special was unusable with any light source on - even minimal light coming in from a small window across the room.3. It can be mounted on a shelf or ceiling and has a front joystick for positioning the screen! This is a big deal for me. My last projector, the ultra weak [...] Optoma had to be mounted either very low (ie - coffee table height) and right side up or very high (ceiling mounted) and upside down. Because I needed it to be mounted high on a rear bookshelf, I had to put the projector upside down and balance it precariously with DVD cases. Because the buttons are on the top of the unit, they always were getting pressed and screwing things up. I can't explain how annoying this is. There is NO WAY to change this in the menu, it has very minimal shift adjustments and no front joystick. I could have bought the mounting cable for $300 and ceiling mounted it, but why would I go to all the trouble? Setting up the Panaonsic, by comparison was a dream. I just plunked it down and used the joystick - 30 seconds max.4. Lots of inputs! 2 x HDMI is great, even though I only need 1 since my amp does HDMI switching, but still nice to have. Component, AV, VGA, S-Video - again nice to have just in case.5. Great price! I was prepared to pay much more for this projector, my friend has the AU100 ( a few years old) and paid around $2000. This model is improved and costs half the price. The junk you can buy at [...] is the same price or more expensive than this Panasonic, and there is just no comparison. I wish there was a way I could stand at [...] who are buying projectors and tell people they are wasting their money. Unforunately nobody sells these locally so you need to buy online which is a barrier for many potential buyers. Consider yourself lucky to be aware of the existence of this projector and BUY IT!!! There are many other great features on this projector, but my top reasons for buying are listed above. If you want a really good comprehensive review, check [@] - their review raves about it just as much as I have.

This is my first digital projector. I was looking for a portable projector, but of high quality. However, several reviews recommended the Panasonic, so I purchased it on sale for the same price as a portable one. It is quite big, barely fits in a small "carry-on" duffel bag, but it is surprisingly light-weight. It is very quiet, powers up and down quite fast.
I've used it several times to watch DVD movies and PowerPoint presentations. Great connections (computer, S-video, component and 2 HDMI), and very simple set-up instructions. I've yet to test its HD mode - it projects at 720p, not 1080p.

We got this for Christmas 2009 as part of a home theater family gift. Having only had it a week, I can say that it was simple to set up and the picture quality is gorgeous. The colors are extremely vivid as well. I'm throwing it across a 25 foot room to a 135" screen. Blu-ray material looks crisp and stunningly clear. Standard DVD's even look great.
I'm very pleased with the projector's simplicity, clarity and brightness!

Comments about Panasonic PT-AX200U LCD Projector:
I spent entirely too much time researching (relatively) cheap home theater projectors. Also spent a lot of time considering building my own. I finally just decided that it would be really awesome to have a projector and ultimately went with this one because of reviews. Primary use is for outdoor projection (movie night!) and portable playstation 3 rock band set-up.
Throws a nice big bright image at night. 3LCD is awesome (lens shift, no rainbow effect.) Decently quiet. Image quality seems good(although admittedly I project onto the side of a house and random walls and probably am not the best candidate to evaluate this.)
Two minor issues: No audio pass-through for HDMI ports and the auto source select is flaky.
All in all, great projector for the money. I have a weird sensitivity to DLP rainbow effect, and this is a solid and bright 3LCD projector at a good price.

I did a lot of research before choosing this projector. It was last year's model when I got it, but it's just as good as any 1080p projector if you're sitting more than eight or nine feet away from the screen, which you're almost certainly going to be doing.
It's got great color, high contrast, and it's super quiet. It does run pretty hot, so you'll want to keep it well ventilated.
Overall, this is the best money I've ever spent on a gadget.

Comments about Panasonic PT-AX200U LCD Projector:
We were finally ready to replace our old Sony 35" CRT television and I borrowed my company's DLP projector just to check it out. We were so taken by the large picture on the wall, and the movies just came alive, so we decided to forget the large flat panel TV and go for the digital projector instead. I started looking at reviews of different projectors and after a month of investigating decided on the PT-AX200U. [...] We are absolutely delighted with this projector and it's features. Only 2 comments; the projector is pretty large and the auto input signal does not work, I usually have to select the type of input weather I use my laptop or the VCR/DVD machines, not a big deal. This is a great alternative to flat panel TVs, you don't necessarily need a screen, although we will get one eventually. The projector was very easy to set up, and is extremely quiet, much more so than the company Dell DLP machine. The remote control is just great. It has a very effective backlight which can be disabled. This projector is so much easier to install than a 50" flat panel TV. Great product!

We use this projector at home to project computer games and movies from our computer. We really do like the fact that, unlike other projectors I've used (in work and school situations) the room doesn't have to be completely dark to enjoy the experience.
It was very easy to set up, and the kids are highly motivated to turn it off correctly. We use various sources (computer, DVD, blueray) and the image size changes; with this projector, it is very easy to adjust the size, tilt and focus to fit the screen.
