This drive works well at backing up my memory cards. It's fast, however the user interface isn't that intuitive, and it takes awhile to know how to navigate and find the features you are looking for. I got it just in time for a multiple day shooting trip and it worked out great.

Forget buying 2 or 3 memory cards, you will not need them. For the price of one 8 mb card I purchased the HyperDrive. On vacation I downloaded over 20 gig of photos. When I got home it was a snap to download then to my pc.
I found it easy to use and very practical. The screen was very easy to see and it organized the photos into individual folders for me.
Save your money on lots of memory cards, leave you laptop at home and enjoy one unit that does it all.

I shoot event photography and like to shoot RAW. I searched around for a basic drive like this without the bells and whistles. This works great. Has a LCD screen, reads all sorts of memory cards. The drive will erase your card after downloading so you can shoot while downloading, erase the card and switch between two cards easily. Very happy with this although I would now have gone for the 80G version. I only selected a con of low capacity as it relates to my needs.

Very fast downloading from CFcard. From what I could tell, 1 picture (9-10mb) a sec. I would put the card in and start the download, leave it and start shotting with my other card. 2 or 3 mins later, when I got a chance, I would pull out my card and turn off the drive. Did that about five times that night. Still had battery life to do it all over again. Started shotting RAW bc of getting this and has become one of the best accessories I have in my bag.
It's looks are nothing special. Kind of looks like a "brick." But the power and what it can do more than makes up for it.
Cons: Thumbs are small. But you can tell what pictures are on there and that they are safely on the drive.
