I am always skeptical of buying insurance policies on electronics, it always seems like a waste. I bought this one because my camera (Canon EOS 50D) was a huge investment for me and I couldn't afford another if it broke. Well I brought the camera to Peru for 4 months and it was fine, but the last week I was there I got caught in a torrential downpour and the camera got wet and wouldn't work at all. I sent it in to Sagemax and they said it would be too expensive to fix, so they mailed me a check for the FULL PRICE of the camera, and I just bought a brand new one last week. Score!

I usually run from "extended warranties"! A proffessional photographer suggested that I purchase the extended warranty for our 50D body. After speaking with the salesman and hearing the list of covered repairs- drops, water damage, etc.PLUS normal coverages for manufacturing issues, I was sold! [$] for three years!

I just purchased the Canon EOS 50d. Canon"s warranty is only a year and only for manufactor's defects. I am outdoors taking sports photography and woud like to be more versatile where I take it, m.e. kyaking etc. With the Sagemax protection if I drop it or it gets wet, or any other accident it is covered! They will attempt to repair it and if not repace it. It's worth the piece of mind.
