Comments about NEW 3-Year SAGEMAX Protection Plan:

I would say I am a medium amateur camera photographer, and an advanced techie. The camcorder is great for everything I read about at [@]. The only drawback I have seen thus far is the remote has a very narrow field of reception. Pretty much directly in front of the camera and you have to be pretty close. I have been touring the Southwestern US and taking pics and video of the beautiful scenery and have found that the remote only has a range of maybe (if you are lucky) 20 feet. It would be nicer if it had a good 30 foot range.Beyond the remote issue it is fantastic. The Scene modes that auto-sense and change the way the camera processes lighting for pictures and video is wonderful. The last camera I purchased was a Nikon S10 for the 10x optical zoom and the pics I took at Arches National park are night and day different. I am trying to be very diligent with charging the battery but I recommend getting a backup. The battery lasts for about 2 hours taking pics and video a step below the 1080/60p level. I also recorded a Tango Dance Class that my girlfriend and I taught for self review. I was really surprised at how good the mic is considering all the reviews suggest having a front mounted internal microphone (this unit is top mounted). It boasts Dolby 5.1 DTS sound, though I haven't had anywhere on the trip to play it back and find out yet. The scenic videos also had good sound (I thought there would be more wind noise and there was only light wind noise).Lastly, while I followed the suggestion for getting a camcorder with the eyepiece/viewfinder (in addition to lcd). I must say I haven't found it very necessary. Even in the bright mid-day of the Southwest's sun I was able to use the LCD. It does help on battery life, but at about 2 hours I haven't needed it yet.
