Meade ETX-80AT telescope is one of the most versatile computerized tools for celestial and terrestrial observation. This version of the ETX-80AT has everything you need including a backpack to go hiking or take on any trip. Its light weight and compact design make it an excellent scope for astrophotography. Its superior optics and abundant light-gathering deliver sharp planetary views and fine details of the craters on the moon. The ETX-80AT has the ability to automatically level itself. The user has to do the following: point the telescope north, set the time, location, and zips. Once this user friendly procedure has been performed, the telescope will align itself, and find the brightest star in the sky, and you are good to go.
The telescope is equipped with the AutoStar, which makes finding celestial objects extremely easy. It has an extensive library containing more than 1400 sky objects that eliminates the need to learn the sky map. Besides all these advanced standard features, the ETX-80AT telescope comes with a built-in barlow lens that flips into position when higher magnification is needed. Also included are the Red Dot viewfinder (SmartFinder), the high precision internal clock, the electronic level sensor, the magnetic north sensor, and two premium 4-element 1.25" Super Plossl eyepieces.

Comments about Meade ETX-80AT Astro 3.1"/80mm Refractor Telescope Kit:
This product is highly rated from numerous websites. The bottom line is people love this telescope. I owned this telescope and loved it. I felt that only the tripod felt cheap and weak. However after frequent use the telescope itself basically fell apart. It has a switch that activates the built in Barlow lens i think its called. anyway the screw fell out just from flipping the switch and the whole insides fell apart lens and all. Putting it back together was next to impossible. I did not buy from overstock but it is the same scope. I feel the need to post because it cost almost 250 usd for this scope and it lasted maybe 6 real world uses before it fell apart. Very disappointing. If you decide to buy this scope tighten the Barlow lens screw / switch just to be safe.

Comments about Meade ETX-80AT Astro 3.1"/80mm Refractor Telescope Kit:
In just a few days I received my Meade ETX-80AT from B&H Photo. After receiving it in the mail I quickly had it up and running and the first thing I aimed in on was our majestic Moon Luna. Being the first time I laid eyes on her through an eyepiece of a telescope I was simply amazed at how crisp and clear I was seeing the surface of the Moon. I was breathless. I then aimed in on Jupiter and was again in awe, for I could clearly see four of Jupiter's moons. The afford-ability of this telescope [...]has made me very pleased with my purchase.
