I have the 3-year sagemax protection plan so I can take my lens with me anywhere. I can leave my camera nearby in the room even when I taking pictures of my grandchildren. If they bump it off the table I'm covered.

I gave this product three stars because I actually didn't need it. The coverage that came with the lens was just as long (or longer, can't remember which) as this coverage. It either wasn't listed on the specs of the lens, or I missed it. When you need the plan however, it is excellent. I've used in on my L-series lenses and wouldn't be without it.

I bought this insurance because I had an accident with my previous lens involving desert sand. This policy covers both sand and water damage and I'm glad to have the protection.
The worthiness of the product will be tested if and when I have a claim.

I am a budget amateur photographer and usually do not want to spend any more penny than necessary, but here is my arguments why it make sense to buy sagemax.
(1) it covers major hazards, even cases such as when you drop your camera and break it (well but i do not encourages you to break your camera, be careful!)
(2) because of the protection plan, it encourages you to bring your gears outside, and take more photos. Mountains, beaches, developing countries or anywhere with potential hazards. It will expand your opportunities.
(3) I sent my k-7 camera for sagemax, as i broke my view finder in Mexico, but they fixed it in a month and the person on the phone were generally quite helpful.

I use this lens mainly for taking sports pictures of my children. I am able to get great shots without having to be right up at the fence! I love that all the moving parts are on the inside, it is easier that way. When using the lens for a long period it can get a bit heavy, but not bad! Overall I love this lens and am so happy with it!!

i'm a skydiver jumping with alot of money on my head...i have a video camera, slr camera, and external flash...was able to purchase the sagemax protection plan for the lens recently purchased,one less thing i have to worry about...wish i would have got it for other products...i think it is worth the money
