The Bonica Snapper Dive HDDV underwater digital media camcorder features the innovative XP system (stands for extra protection) that safeguards the camcorder against moisture by having a completely water-tight silicone skin around the camera, much like a dry suit. While inside the Skin, the camcorder is an all-weather camcorder fit for all outdoor activities. The Skin protects the camcorder from rain, snow, sand and scratches. When the camcorder is inside the hard housing, it is ready to be submerged to 180'. In case moisture gets inside the housing, the digital camera is fully protected.
The Bonica Snapper Dive HDDV is a miniature camera that resembles some digital still photo cameras in its vertical layout. It has an 2.4" LED monitor that allows easy and fun framing, even when wearing a mask.
The Bonica Snapper Dive HDDV does not use video tape, but writes onto inexpensive SD cards. In fact, a 4 GB card will record over 90 minutes of video. Because the recording process uses no moving parts, the card can be reused far more times than a video cassette. Five.0 Mega-pixel digital stills, and a built in video light are just some of the many features this stylish camera comes with. This kit also includes a water-tight hard travel case.

Comments about Bonica Snapper Dive HDDV Digital Media Camcorder:
As a compact high definition dive camera, this is an excellent value. It would be even better if it had a manual white balance adjustment, and if the auto focus motor wasn't audible.

Comments about Bonica Snapper Dive HDDV Digital Media Camcorder:
For the price this camera costs it does exactly what it advertises to do. It takes great videos and camera only requires one hand to operate. I watch my movies on my 50 inch plasma and quality is at least 720p and if you get close enough to the object it approaches that of what you see on discovery channel. However. A huge disadvantage is that it takes enormous amount of effort to change a battery. I was forced to attach a sharp object to my bcd just so that I could open the camera. When you do open the camera because of silicone skin it takes that much more effort to get to the battery. Battery runs 45 minutes continuous footage with me never touching zoom button (all graphic settings in lcd screen set to low to save battery). Of course there is constant auto zoom noise and for those who expected something otherwise will be in for a nasty surprise. What I usually do is I strip each video of audio. Video shoots in quicktime format in really good quality and when you start exporting that..well it becomes tv quality. Forget about shooting many video clips during the dive. Editing 29 clips will be your biggest nightmare. Its much easier to shoot everything and then cut out what you want pending that you can control how fast you are moving this 30fps camera so your movie is not a constant blur. When you ADAPT to the camera you will really appreciate every penny you have invested into it. All the little annoyances will be solved and you WILL produce absolutely amazing videos without spending 9000. You will also learn how to take your footage and make the most of it. Enough of the babble. Here is a test video that I made a year ago for you to make your own conclusionsduce quality.. [...]

Comments about Bonica Snapper Dive HDDV Digital Media Camcorder:
There are a lot of pros and cons with this camera. Don't go in expecting a broadcast quality camera for [$]. But for the price it is a decent unit. Things I Liked:Ability to easily talk with Bonica Tech SupportThe ability to shoot both stills and video.Easy menu and button configuration.Records to a simple SD card.Battery life was sufficient for a dive.Decent video quality for the price. The protective skin inside the housing.Things I dislilked:The constant motor noise drowns out other sounds.Limited optical zoomVery difficult to pop latches - coin is needed.Pins inside latch rusted after 1st dive.Difficult to remove the camera from the skin and housing to change batteries between dives.
