The FireStudio Project from Presonus is a complete computer recording solution for both the Mac and Windows based computer. The system comprises a 10 input/10 output FireWire interface with 8 Class A preamps, control software, and stereo S/PDIF input and output.
Geared towards the professional project studio, live sound recording or live performance, the system provides high quality audio, along with a great deal of flexibility. The FireControl Mixer/Router software can send up to five individual mixes to different musicians during recording, allowing each band member to have a custom headphone mix.
The first two inputs can be used as instrument inputs. These two channels are also fitted with dedicated sends and returns, for inserting outboard hardware processors, such as compressors or EQ. Three-segment LED input metering is available on all analog channels.
The interface is bundled with the Studio One Artist DAW software for Mac OS X, and Windows and includes 20 PreSonus Native Effects plug-ins and virtual instruments and third-party loops, software and instrument sounds.

Comments about PreSonus FireStudio Project - FireWire Recording System:
I got two of these FireStudio Projects late last year to have 16 mic preamps to record live bands. I am also using the Studio One DAW software that comes with the unit. What a terrific combination. I have both FSP's daisy chained on Firewire to my Lenovo T500 built-in FW port and it all works perfectly even at 96Kbps with all 16 channels recording. I have recorded a 16 piece swing and pop band and was amazed at the dynamic range I had on the brass, saxes and drums. Really smile inducing. I got the FSP units on sale with a rebate for the S1 Pro version and bought that. Let me say the S1 Pro version is worth it to be able to record, mix and master all in one package.
