Comments about Sony BC-U1 Battery Charger:
I like how it is smaller and heavier than the charger that comes with the camera. It fits better in my case and stays put when its plugged in. Its easy to use. Just slide in the battery and switch it to charge. You can also use it as a dc input.

Comments about Sony BC-U1 Battery Charger:
Every other video cam I've ever purchased came with 1 battery and charger, but not the Sony F3. So I purchased the BC-U1 charger and a couple of BPU-60 batteries. The charger is perfect and I love the "check" buttons on the batteries that allow you to see how much charge they're holding. The BC-U1 charger allows either battery charging OR using the device as DC power for the camera. Blinking vs solid light indicates charge/charge complete. Sony PMW-F3 camera owners need this charger! Senses when the battery is full and doesn't overcharge.

Comments about Sony BC-U1 Battery Charger:
If you lost/damaged/just need another battery charger for BP-U60 or BP-U30 batteries.
If you are going to buy the PMW-EX1R, this charger is already included.
Charging time is fast and works as expected

Comments about Sony BC-U1 Battery Charger:
Does exactly what you need it to do - charges your battery.
I have the Sony EX1 and it came with one of these, but I bought another so I can charge two batteries at once, and also charge one while using AC power with the other too.
This is a high quality charger and it charges batteries very quickly. It is a little bulky, and I would like to be able to remove the cables from the unit entirely (not just the AC) but these are minor cons in contrast to some very high pros.

Comments about Sony BC-U1 Battery Charger:
Strong construction, lame flashing light guide. Has an either or switch but not both for charging OR camera power. So if you are stuck needing cam power you can't charge your batt at the same time. Could it be that hard to porovide both for those emergency times?
The thing looks bullet proof though and that may be why they kept the little LCD progress display off of it.
The charger that came with the Z1u was much nicer looking and rugged but I could see the LCD being a liability as the years go by. Still works great after 2 years though.
If you buy the EX1 you should budget for the card reader!!!!! Read again!! BUY THE CARD READER, the placement of the USB out to the NLE computer is LAME and will break with major usage. This is a last resort style deal.
I bought an extra charger just to be safe. The price is right though. I would rather that than a fancy LCD. So six of one half doz of the other.
