This is a very convenient accessory to have for computers that lack a built-in SxS Express 32 card reader. I was using a MacBook Pro to read the video and then transferring it to my MacPro. With this reader the whole process is faster and easier.
The unit is reliable and the build quality is decent. However, for what it does, it is expensive and for that, it can't get 5 stars.
That said, the unit comes with everything needed to be up and running. It worked by plugging in the power and then the USB cable on my MacPro. Windows software is included. The unit is nice in that it uses a mini USAB connector. However, the cable is only 3 or 4 feet long so you may need a longer cable.

The EX1 comes with one 16gig SxS card, and I purchased a Sony-made sdhc adapter and their recommended media (Sandisk.) The reader only works with the SxS card, which was pretty frustrating. We bought another reader for the adapter which only cost $21 and is usb bus powered - fits in your pocket. This is bulky and only works for SxS cards.

Comments about Sony SBAC-US10 SxS Memory Card USB Reader/Writer for ExpressCard/34:
The memory card reader is noticeably faster than the EX1, however, for the price I just wish you could load two cards at once like on the camera...Overall it's a useful tool

Nightly downloads after all day shoots. Decent speed, no problems, though a firewire version would be nice.

Lightweight, but not rugged. Thin USB cable supplied, I suppose for compactness, but the unit's housing is certainly bigger than it needs to be by 50%. So, OK it works fine, but for the premium price it's not a good value.

Comments about Sony SBAC-US10 SxS Memory Card USB Reader/Writer for ExpressCard/34:
If you use SxS cards with Sony cameras or decks, this little guy is a must have. Only gripe is that it was missing the power cord to the wall...wasn't in the box. But I had one from an old DVD player or something and was able to use it. It's pricey (another reason for the 3 stars out of 5), but it works. I bought it for use with the Sony PMW-F3 camera, which comes with just about nothing but the body. Wish it was USB3.

Comments about Sony SBAC-US10 SxS Memory Card USB Reader/Writer for ExpressCard/34:
I use this in the field and back at the office for SXS shoots. It is a good product. A bit pricey for what is actually does. Being an independent contractor, I need to have a card reader with me at all times for clients that may need it in the field. So, this was a must buy.
It is built good for being plastic.
It does require AC, unlike the Panasonic P2 card reader. However, it only needs 1 USB vs the 2 USB the Panasonic needs.

Been using the reader to offload EX1 video from SxS cards. So far, even in Thailand during the rainy season the reader seems to be working just fine.
Workhorse of a product.
Wish that it was faster...

The one thing i noticed right away was how fast this device transfers data. Its unfortunate that its priced as high as it is for a simple card reader. But that's the price you pay for having a high end camera.

This is a very durable product, I use it for SxS cards from the Alexa camera. Some card readers can be finicky, but this reader doesn't seem to falter like others do. It always displays the card right away and can work all day and not overheat. It's only downside is the slower USB 2.0 speed, but I'm not really sure of a faster reader that's not over $1000.

Works exactly as I expected on all my workstations and MacBook Pro. Biggest complaint: not bus powered - a pain if I'm offloading in the field without AC power. Otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.

The SBC US10 reader is a great tool for downloading XD CAM footage to our NLE system. Just plug the USB cable to your PC or MAC and the Export clips straight to your NLE.. for example with Adobe CS5.. you can import the clips straight from the Media Browser even before copying them to your local hard drive.. It has fast transfer rate and it is simple to use.

Comments about Sony SBAC-US10 SxS Memory Card USB Reader/Writer for ExpressCard/34:
It gets the job done fairly fast. I don't have to reboot my computer every time I put and SxS card in. It works just like a CF or SD card reader. I wish Sony just developed their cameras to use CF cards in stead of these ridiculously expensive SxS cards and reader. Other than being upset at Sony for that, I'm happy with how it works. Easy to install, easy to use.

Nice piece of HW, work well as promised and as expected from any Sony component, a little bit overpriced, but when you spend [$] for a 64 GB SxS card, you wouldn't mind to add a couple of hundreds for having this reader.

Does what it says on the tin - Reads Sony Pro SXS cards from Sony XDcam
Works well as you'd expect from Sony - personal view is the unit is over priced by Sony - but couldn't find another portable unit that did the job.
