The Sony SBP-16 16GB SxS PRO Memory Card uses ExpressCard technology which is the next generation PC card standard. It will record approximately one hour of video with XDCAM EX camcorders. It has a high-speed transfer rate of up to 800 Mb/s.

We have 2 SONY XDCAM that we use on a regular basis to make interviews and short videos with artists at our Center. Since the begining we were using 8GB SXS cards that limited us for the length of these interviews. Now with the 16GB we can double that time and depending of the format that we us to shoot it can be even more longer. We never experienced any problem with these cards and they are very convenient and fast to let us Edit our footage. Great product and great way to evolve from the DV Tapes era.

Filming to an SxS card is amazing. The transfer rate is amazing. There are a few things that you need to become familiar when transeferring information so you don't loose it. Things like selecting where the cache files would go when importing directly to Final Cut Pro. That is important when you want to back up your files.
It's worth the investment.

I was on a location documentary shoot with my Sony EX1. We had 1-2 our shoots at a time but with the 8 minute transfer time into Final Cut, we were able to swap our memory cards with ample time left on the second card.
