Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 software remotely controls most functions of Nikon digital SLRs from a computer that is connected via USB cable or though wired or wireless LAN using a wireless transmitter. Advanced functions of the D3 and D300 cameras such as the Viewer for preview and selection of images prior to transfer, LiveView function and Picture Control System are also supported, along with the workflow of Nikon's exclusive photofinishing software Capture NX (optional) and the browser and viewer software View NX.

I bought this product because I love macro work and find myself shooting from a tripod in postions where it's impossible to use the viewfinder. I also do as much technical and architectural photography as I can find clients to pay me for and the promise of remote operation and control if often invaluable for those pursuits.
That said it works for me; how well I'm not sure yet. It's intuitive but the camera controls cannot be manipulated with "LiveView" feature enabled. In other words you apparently can't tweak controls to manipulate exposure or depth of field while viewing camera image output on your PC screen. This may be something I haven't learned yet as I have only had the product a few weeks and haven't had much time to spend with it.
Otherwise it seems like a solid, stable program and it does work "out-of-the-box" for my basic needs. I didn't find any problems with special settings using my D3; it was 'plug-and-play'. I haven't tried my 'old' D100 yet but did take note of other reviews and printed out their settings information in case it's needed. It's also the only game in town for Nikon. Next on my wishlist is the $700 wi-fi adapter unless I can find something better that will work...

When I adjust the microscope that is connected to the camera the software is very slow to catch up with what I have done. I have a powerful computer just for it, and still it is not up to the standards that I have always give Nikon, for the past 40 some years. I love there equipment, but there software needs improvement, and when you consider the price, well its not very good. Also I talked several times to there people about software and the computer, and they are not very swift to say the least. I new more about computers and that type of software than they do. This was a disappointment. If I did not know the tricks of the computers, the software would not have worked at all.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I have an amateur indoor studio (strobes, umbrellas, backdrop, etc) for shooting kids and grand kids. This software is fantastic because after each shot, I can view the picture on my 17.3 inch laptop instead the 3 inch screen of my Nikon D-300. I have none of the problems expressed by other reviewers. Shame on Nikon for making this software so expensive. One other con is that there is no independent viewer, i.e. you must use Nikon's free viewer which is fairly easy to use but an instant viewer for this software would have been better. I'm going with 5 stars bec it is simply fantastic software in spite of the few cons I've indicated.

Made my astro-photography a cinch with the live view.
Easy to use and quick to set up.
Nikon has a nerve charging for this after we buy $2000.+ camera body's from them.

This software is awesome for tethering my D7000! I did have to install an update from Nikon to work with the D7000, but it's super sweet when I tether to my Mac now!!

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
For "professional" software, this application lacks basic repeatable configurability, an unscriptable user interface, is a resource hog, has a memory leak, and worst of all, can not be depended on as it crashes eventually (memory leak). Support is weak, and rather to be willing to work with a user to improve the product, Nikon tech support is more likely to suggest user/hardware error than to acknowledge their "pro" software, version 2.9 no less, is buggy, lacks enterprise (fail-safe, configurable) functionality, and for the level of program utility and reliability, extremely overpriced, especially when compared to the plethora of professional camera control options in the Canon environment.
That said, it does give you remote access to nearly all camera features, is good for acquiring single images (or bracketed), and can set up a mass storage device workflow. However, when there are freeware and shareware programs available that are considerably more reliable than Nikon's CCP2, I cannot recommend buying/supporting this product. And per Nikon, the software is not returnable for refund.

Worked very well with my D7000. A great buy, quick response, user friendly (if you're already familiar with your camera and computer). It is awesome having such a large preview of the image. Well worth the money just for that.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I purchased this software to run a Nikon D300 camera attached to a Leitz microscope for photomicroscopy. It allows me to use the live view feature of the D300, which is critical, since I do not have a camera lens in the system. I use manual mode and control exposure by changing shutter speed. The live view feature allows me to achieve optimum focus, that is difficult to do using the camera viewer. I am extremely pleased with the ease of use of the software. It does everything I want.

I upgraded this from Nikon Capture and it works great. I use this for wireless transfer of pictures and control of my D2X / WT-2A. It takes about 5 seconds to see the pictures appear on my laptop computer. Clients love to see the pictures right away and help to confirm their choice.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I have started to use this product with my portrait and small object photography. It is great to have an image instantly available for review. If an image does not work I can then delete and retake. I have purchased a second party (longer) USB cable. This makes it possible to move around my subjects and reframe an image. Easy to install and use. So far it works like a dream with my D3s.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I purchased this software because lightroom 3 does not support my camera for tethered capture in the windows format. Although it doesn't posess all the features of lightroom it is more than adequate for my needs. The interface is simple and easy to use and very user friendly. It was out of the box ,installed and I was capturing photos to it in less than a half an hour.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
We use this on location for portraits and architectural shoots. We have started using it in the studio for food and portraits. It works really well with the client getting comfortable quickly seeing the shoot is going in the direction they desire. And of course that helps us become more effective in meeting the clients needs. We use this with Adobe Lightroom, no problems.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
We use this software to remotely control Nikon dSLR cameras in hazardous areas.
The software is straight forward to use, with the most used controls in four tabbed sheets.
The only annoyance was that the software in the box was out of date and had to be updated before it would recognize the camera. The software does not have a full scale viewer, but works seamlessly with ViewNX, a free download from Nikon's website.

Excellent software. If you're going to work with a preciise set, you want this software for your camera and your laptop or desktop. You'll get the most of it, from certain models. Look at the specs to see which camera model will give you the biggest bang for the buck. Very easy to use. It works with ViewNX very well. Allows you to frame your shot while you're adjusting the set in Live View on certain cameras with it. You can operate your camera from the software's console. Pretty slick.

The software can control the camera, or just push the buttons on the camera and the picture is downloaded without any other action.

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I use this to manage all the settings on my D300 without getting XBox thumb. After using the D300 for a while, and monkeying with all the settings, I find that I'm off in Never Never land somewhere. With Camera Control Pro, you can go through the menus much more quickly than on the camera back, and set options the way you want.
I've had no problems installing or using the software (Mac Pro, 2008, Leopard), although the UI is a bit dated. Maybe Nikon could get a little bit more onto each screenful, and give you more of a view-at-a-glance of all your settings...

Comments about Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.0 Software:
I'm using this software to operate a D-90 with a scienfic measurement system. The product works well but took too much extra effort to install because the CD is out of date. Without the downloaded update, it does not recognize the D-90. Since the D-90 has been around for a while, it seems like the current CD should not require such extra effort -- especially where a computer is not already connected to the Internet.
