The DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router from D-Link combines the functions of a Cable/DSL router and a wireless access point into one compact device. The router allows you to share your Internet connection between several computers that can connect via the 802.11n wireless protocol, or via any of four wired RJ-45 Ethernet ports. The router is also fully backwards compatible with legacy 802.11b/g devices.
The router also features a firewall to protect you from malicious software that can attack your computer from the Internet, as well as wireless security to ensure that your data remains private. These features make the wireless router a great way to add wireless access to your home network.

I purchased this router to try out the new 'N' technology. I was previously using a wireless Netgear 'G' Router that worked pretty well except for the occasional dropped signal and having to "restart" the router.
This is my setup:
Cable Modem to D-Link Wireless N Router. Hardwired to Home PC (ethernet). Wireless connections include: 2 Home Laptops, 1 Work Laptop, PS3, and Wii.
Pros: Looks nice and the speed for the Home PC is fast (although why shouldn't it be, it's hard-wired). Connection for the Laptops are fine. The signal strength is listed as excellent but can't get a faster connection than 54mbps.
Cons: Wireless connection for the PS3 and Wii are extremely slow. This router is slower than my old one.
I have tried numerous different ways to try and get a faster connection for the PS3 and Wii. Our house is not that big and the PS3 is only 2 rooms over (maybe 30 feet). The Wii is in the same room as the router. With our old router, which was 'G', I found the wireless connection to be much faster. Downloads on the PS3 and Wii didn't take NEAR as long as with this new 'N' Router. I thought it could possibly be that I had so many things connecting to it at once. So, I tried to then only have the Home PC and the PS3 connected and tested out the speed. For something that took maybe 10 minutes to download on the old router is now taking 45 minutes or longer. And after testing it that way I went back to connecting everything to it and the speed didn't change so I found it doesn't really matter how many things you have connected.
The router works, but in my opinion the speeds suggested aren't that valid. I'm not a techy or anything but when a product says you will see improved speed I guess that's what I expected.
Also, this router also loses connection with laptops. Out of the 3 laptops we use, one is XP, one is Vista, and the work one is Windows 7. About every other day or so, the connection is lost and the only remedy is to unplug the power source of the router, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. It gets a bit annoying.
I wouldn't suggest this router to anyone. The price tag was OK, but it was still about the same price as our old router and that one worked better and faster. I figured I should try out the new 'N' technology at the lowest level before purchasing the higher end ones. At this point, I think I'll stick with what worked before.
I also forgot to mention the connection for my cell phone. I have a Samsung Moment that is Wi-Fi capable. It finds the connection just fine and can usually connect to it without problem or fail. Once connected, I don't think my connection speed is quicker at all. In fact, when doing a test of loading web pages on my cell phone, in most cases they load faster with my cell phone network than they do with the wireless connection. I tested it out loading the same webpage and standing in the same part of the house when testing it out (in fast, I was standing no more than 10 feet from the router). It was also said that the range of this router would be better, but I have not found that to be true. With my old router, I could be sitting outside in the back yard using the Wi-Fi on my phone and it was just like using a laptop. Now, I can hardly get a strong enough signal outside. Also, for those who might not know, the Samsung Moment has one of the fastest processors for a cell phone and uses the Android Operating System.
If anyone has suggestions on how to make the connection faster, please share.

Comments about D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router:
Easy to do a basic setup if you follow the instructions on the setup disc. Got it up and running with everything in the house on the first try (took about 10 minutes). The online manual is a bit of a mess. There doesn't seem to be a way to have it NOT broadcast your SSID, which knocks it down to a 3 at best.

So far I only need a router for a femtocell for the smartphone and this is much improved from the older one I had.

I'm using the router for laptop access to my internet provider. Set up in less than a minute simply by plugging into my existing desktop PC router (or I could have replaced the existing router with this). Gets maximum signal strength anywhere in large apartment with intervening thick walls (bounces signal). No interruptions, no complaints.

This was very quick and easy to set up, just pop in the set up cd and it configures everything for you and has you up and running in about 10 minutes. I can't comment on the range of this unit because my computer is just in the next room but the speed seems to be good...I have cable internet but not the fastest version of it so it works fine for what I need.

On line in less than 30 minutes. Has lots of configurable settings. I have had it for about a week now and have not had any disconnects or any other issues. My previous router was a d-link and lasted seven years - hope for the same with this device. Would have given 5 stars but noticed wireless is a little underpowered.

Good overall. Signal strength seems a little weak but we use it with computers, ipod touch, droid phones wireless printers, and gaming systems. All connected well. The phone seems to be the one with the weakest signal strength but it does stay connected to the system throughout all levels of our house. Didn't use the Dlink software for installation. Haven't tested the N part of the router yet or done any speed tests. Overall it works well for basic uses.

Seemed like a nice enough router, but the Actiontec M1000 DSL modem (provided with Qwest service)won't easily work with any other router. I just bought the W1000 wireless module for the modem. Not as good a result, but MUCH easier.

Comments about D-Link DIR-615 Wireless N 300 Router:
This router has a very nice design but very poor performance over wireless. I was only able to achieve 8mbps throughput over wireless N. With my netgear I was at least able to get 18 to 30. If you dont need it for wireless then the speed is fine when connected to a LAN port. Pay the extra money and get the linksys E1000
