The Rycote Mini Windjammer is a lined slip-on fur cover designed for use with the Zoom H4 & Nagra Ares-M digital recorder. It has a windshield rating of medium that provides 30-40dB reduction from the effects of high-wind gust noise and vocal plosives.
The Mini Windjammer can be used over a foam windscreen or on its own. A touch-fastener strap secures the windjammer in place.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Zoom H4 & Nagra Ares-M:
Bought this for the H4 because the wind screen was super weak and fell off my mic when I was recording an event. Works exactly as it claims, the only bummer is that it covers up the record button when it's on the device. but it can easily be pushed up to reveal the buttons. Overall solid though.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Zoom H4 & Nagra Ares-M:
Very effective against strong wind which the supplied foam winshield is not capable of. Quite transparent too.
Cons: Does not fit over the supplied foam windshield which it should have. The size is a bit too small.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Zoom H4 & Nagra Ares-M:
The pluses:
This fuzzy little addition to your H4 definitely increases your ability to record outdoors on a breezy day. If you run into conditions (and I have) that exceed the capabilities of this direct applied windscreen, you will need a blimp. It's a tight fit but once applied, it stays on and keeps the H4's windscreen in place which normally has a tendency to fall off.
The minus:
It does not fit over the tripod adapter cradle which means hand held use only as supplied. I'm tempted to try modifying mine to fit over the tripod cradle.
Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Zoom H4 & Nagra Ares-M:
I'm using this Windjammer on an original H4. It's great in moderate wind conditions and it was able to handle the wind generated by the Washington DC Metro subway.
The only thing I don't like is how the Windjammer is secured to the recorder. To make it tight enough the velcro strap overlaps onto the furry part. You also have to be careful not to mount the Windjammer too low since it can get in the way of the jog wheel.

Comments about Rycote Mini Windjammer for Zoom H4 & Nagra Ares-M:
The Zoom H4 mics can be very sensitive, and if your sound source happens to be near a wind source (air conditioner, heater, fan, outside, or merely near some politician), your disappointment will be guaranteed. Couple that with the Zoom's foam windscreen that often grows legs, hides itself and can't be found, and you have a recipe for trouble.
This fuzzy windscreen solves all the technical issues. Our recordings of events and formal concerts have been very good, thanks to this great addition.
