It's close. But the opening on the bottom is larger then the top. Also the corners are rounded.
Top - 2 3/8"
Base - 2 1/2"
On a positive note, it comes with two foam inserts, to adjust for different microphone diameters.

This was the best investment that I have made in a long time. Having a Mic Flag in todays media market is a must. Having viewers identify who you are buy the Mic Flag is very important piece of equipment to carry in today broadcast industry. Being able to have a customize Mic Flag viewed while broadcasting is key to exposing viewers your professional broadcasting skills

This microphone flag fits snugly on my Sony F-112 handheld interview microphone, with the smaller of the two foam inserts installed.
Tip: I carry it perched atop my camera viewfinder(JVC GY HD200UB), pointing it in the same direction as my on-camera microphone, the headband of my small LED headlamp holds it in place against the flag and viewfinder, and roll up a 10" xlr cable, which I put in a small zippered bag attached to the camera carry strap connector, or go wireless with a plug-on transmitter. This way the handheld mic is always connected and pointing straight ahead, and ready to use as a handheld as well as backup on-camera microphone.
