We use it both as a video recorder and a camera. We have only been using it since Christmas so there is not a lot of experience with it yet but from the photo's we have taken they have been great. The video works well also but again I have only shot about 20 minutes so far. The most impressive thing about this camcorder is its size and ease of use. My wife is shall we say not handy with anything electronic and she is using it now easily. I am concerned about battery life and video quality but I have not had it long enough yet to satisfy my concerns yet. All in all it was a good purchase that I would recommend to a friend.

I have had the HD-700 BR for a month & for ease of use, it is great. Like I have read on other reviews, it does not shoot very good quality video in low-light conditions. However, in decent lighting, it is great for a better quality home videos. Also, for MAC users, it imports flawlessly into IMovie.

What an amazing piece of technology! I love that the Xacti fits in your hand so easily and the functions are so easy to use. By keeping your elbow into your body it's also easy to keep the thing steady, especially with the image stabilization activated. I love that I can record in HD and watch on the computer or on the bigscreen.

It's easy to operate and it's light-weighted and easy to grab. With image stabilizer inside, I've tried several times, it will significantly reduce the shake. Minor hand shake is virtually removed -- it's good enough for most daily use. And the output has as fine as MPEG-4 which is much better than other products' NTSC. And with great price, especially at B&H.

This thing is great for capturing those new baby moments. Have been using it this past year and looking forward to documenting my son's first birthday with it. No muss no fuss in full auto mode but great to have the manual adjustments for those of us who want to play with special effects.
Image quality is just right. We found nothing lacking compared to other "HD" camcorders.
Not a con against the camera but the Adobe Premiere Elements (Windows only)that it came with to convert the video to other video formats is not intuitive. I ended up just importing the files into iMovie and burning with iDVD on my MAC. I just don't have the time or patience right now to learn a more involved piece of software.

Don't let that discourage you from using this fun to use camcorder. A big plus is that SD memory cards are interchangeable with our other cameras!

Fits in your pocket and turns on when you swing out the LCD. Turns off when you close it. How much simpler can it be? Came with all the cables for playback on TV, PC, etc.

I use my Xatci 700 on my touring motorcycle. If this is not helpful you can stop now. A ram handlebar mount on my Yamaha Royal Star Tour Delux worked fine. Continusly mounted for over 340 mi except for a battery change. The vibration and movement was never a problem. The camera performed flawlessly. This report speaks to durability and ruggedness.

I bought this as a replacement to my Panasonic PV-GS320. I can say outdoors the HD video does a good job and the quality trade-off is worth the small size. Indoors is another matter. I read every review I could find and didn't see anything mentioning the lousy low light capabilities, the Panansonic is 10x's better as an indoor camcorder even without HD recording. Also, the 5x zoom is kind of a joke.

I've got a 3MP 6yr old Olympus that takes better pictures than this supposed 7MP digital camera option. Every indoor photo has major red eye. It's so bad that Sanyo wrote a software routine to try and fix it with a menu option.

All in all it's a decent camera for outdoors but lousy indoors. If I was doing it again I'd buy an Aiptec for a lot less money.

I wanted a small, discrete video camera that could produce a high quality picture without too much bulk/memory/battery problems and this is it! It's a simplistic product and easy to use and exactly what I wanted. I do wish that it would have a better battery life and memory monitor, but I'm very satisfied overall.

I bought this camera wanting to get into video along with Hi-Def. I did some shopping around and concluded that this would be the best camera for the money. That was an understatement it is the best camera for anything. It has very good video and still picture quality, is the easiest camera to operate that I have ever seen, and has great features such as extracting stills out of the video that you shoot. I would buy this camera again and again.

I'm a journalist whose newspaper just started posting videos on our website and this little camera is a big help. Not only does it shoot insanely high quality video it also shoots really good still photos so I don't have to lung my bulky SLR around on assignments and to meetings. The controls are easy to use and very simple but the menu allows for complex operations if you want. There are a couple of downsides. The images are so high quality any SD card except a SDHC card is too small (at least for me) This makes the memory cards harder to access because so few computers (especially at a small town newspaper) can read them on their own. Also, as a guy with short fingernails, the doors to the memory card slot, DC power cord and headphone jack are very hard to open. Also, the hinge on the flip out LCD screen is made of metal but still feels a little weak and flimsy. Overall I'd rate this product an "A" for a professional like me that needs high quality in a small package and for people who want real HD home movies from a very portable camera.
