Depth-of-field (DOF) is more than a button on the front of a camera; it is a complex mathematical system that interweaves focal length, focusing distance, and aperture. Many modern SLR/DSLR lenses no longer have complete or accurate DOF markings. So to aid photographers, this ExpoImaging ExpoAperture² Depth-of-Field Guide gives shooters a full scale that can effectively be read with a single glance.
To use the guide, one needs to select the sensor/film size—anywhere from a 2x digital crop factor to 6x6 cm film—then a focal length ranging from 15mm to 135mm. The scale will compensate for the varying film/sensor sizes in relation to the selected aperture. When the parameters are chosen, the guide returns a range of apertures and the corresponding areas that will be rendered in focus for each f-stop.
The ExpoAperture² is compact, and easily finds its home in just about any camera bag or pocket. This ExpoAperture² includes a printed quick-start guide, a storage pouch and a sensor/film format reference chart.
This version of the ExpoAperture² is a two disc kit that includes a standard guide for 15-135mm lenses, and a second disc for telephoto focal lengths from 70-600mm.

This product performs four useful functions regarding depth of field and selective focusing: 1. Determines appropriate aperture and distance for desired DOF.
2. Gives appropriate DOF for given aperture and distance.
3. Gives accurate hyperfocal distance for all f/stops on any given lenes and focal factor (film or digital).
4. Gives DOF for closeup photography.
Great because it is easy to use once one gets the hang of it and a great learning tool, as it does as advertised in a general sense.
Needs improvement regarding it's precision in measurement indications on the dial.

Good, but I expected more.
A little cumbersome to use, and would like to see area in front of and behind focus point, and info on DOF at micro distances. Still useful, and a good product.

Comments about ExpoImaging ExpoAperture2 Depth-of-Field Guide (2-Disc Kit):
It is easy to learn how to use and then operate these Depth Of Field Guides. The one caveat is you must be able to accurately judge distances to your focal point before you can use any Depth of field guide

Comments about ExpoImaging ExpoAperture2 Depth-of-Field Guide (2-Disc Kit):
This a really neat gadget. When I saw it at first I was not sure how useful it would be but I have used it and it is very accurate in determining the depth of field for any distance and camera. No more guessing. I got the 2 disk set even though I only use one for the lenses I have but the price of the two was cheaper than getting just one. I keep the set in my camera bag at all times. I recommend this product.

Depth-of-field has been somewhat of a mystery to a degree and this is an excellent tool to determined your depth of field for the lenses you are using. I use this primarily to study the Depth-of-fields for many scenarios to better prepare myself when I go out to the field to shoot.

Comments about ExpoImaging ExpoAperture2 Depth-of-Field Guide (2-Disc Kit):
Only takes seconds to decide depth of field that best suits photo composition. If you have a moment to decipher your best composition you cant't go wrong with this product. Only con would be once you set the wheel you must grasp firmly with thumb and index finger or you will lose your setting; however, that's not so bad once you get used to it.
Comments about ExpoImaging ExpoAperture2 Depth-of-Field Guide (2-Disc Kit):
I received the product today and discovered that there was no instructional CD-ROM included, even though the "quickstart guide" refers to the "included cd." I called the company and was informed that they no longer include the disc. Instead the information can be found at their website.

Comments about ExpoImaging ExpoAperture2 Depth-of-Field Guide (2-Disc Kit):
I bought these to help me learn about depth of field, and have found this product easy to use. You have to measure the distance semi accurately which is the only downfall. But if you take the time to be half accurate, or over estimate the distance these will work for you. Much easier to understand than trying to decipher a depth of field table.
