I originally purchased the Lowepro Slingshot 300 AW, but after carrying all my gear in it, I decided that I really wanted a backpack as the weight would be more evenly distributed. I love how the fastback 250 still retains the slingshot method to get your camera out and on target. I only have 2 problems.
1) No all weather cover!! Come on people, the idea is to progress, not regress. Even with that said, the material seems strong enough to stop water from getting in, however, I was much more comfortable with my Slingshot's weather cover
2) I had to take out one entire side of dividers so that I can fit my 24-70 2.8 and my 70-200 2.8 IS. I tried to keep the setup with one row on the left, one row on the right for lenses, and the middle row for the camera with attached lens, but the 70-200 2.8 is just too big. So it fits my light gear needs, but I have no room to upgrade if I choose to carry additional lenses.

Definitely not a bag for the ultra professional but more than enough for the prosumer photographer like myself and my Canon 7D. I have enough components to now walk into a room and get noticed but this backpack is truly what impresses folks!

I have three lens and an 8 inch external monitor that fit perfectly into the bag. It is also great for putting a laptop in. I choose red so I would never lose it in the outdoors. This is a great bag.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Red/Black):
I had a specific need in mind- a backpack that would hold my 15" MacBook Pro, as well as a DSLR with lens attached. More specifically, I wanted quick access to the DSLR for shooting on the street.
I had initially intended to buy the CompuDay 250 for this purpose, but had forgotten the name and when browsing in store picked up this instead.
It's somewhat larger than what I had originally planned on getting, but this is made up for by the fact that there is a great amount of room for storage. The main camera gear compartment has padded slots for a DSLR with lens, an additional lens, and four batteries/small accessories or lenses. Above that compartment is a large unsegmented area that I use to carry my nook, notebook, travel mouse and chargers (still plenty of room to spare).
My 15" MacBook Pro fits into the laptop compartment no problem, and the waist harness is good for distributing the weight of everything.
Only thing to look out for here is that it is a little bit bulky, so for the sake of proper subway etiquette I always make sure to take it off and hold it by the top handle when entering a crowded car.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Red/Black):
When I was out to purchase a backpack I wanted something that was "backpacky" yet could easily allow me to access my camera and equipment.
The FastPack250 is what I eventually settled on. The easy access side compartment allows me to wear it around and still retain quick access to my camera by swinging the back onto one shoulder and popping open the side compartment. If I don't need my camera right away I can hide the zippers behind the flap so someone can't access them - a built in security feature so to speak.
The main seller is the side access on this, quick shots, and camera can go away. It also means you don't need to put the bag down to access your camera. Easily stores a Macbook Pro 15.7" too.
Straps are comfortable, lots of padding and protection which makes it a little bit bulkier than a real backpack. I was out in the rain with it, decent water protection, except I wish Lowepro included a rain cover like it does on it's other accessories (-1 star).
What I have in mine:
-Nikon D5000
-Remote Shutter Cable
-iPod / iPod Cables
-50mm lens
-55mm to 200mm lens
-18mm to 55mm lens
-Battery charger and cable
-Water bottle on the side pocket
-Macbook Pro 15.7" + charger
-Other stuff in the top pocket
Light enough you can take it with you on a bike or bus, but no so big that it's a pain. Worth the money.

Great Product, grab and go - its all where it needs to be! I have enough room in the top compartment to carry a small 1080HD camcorder kit.
I also have the two lens version of this backpack, that model works so well for me it was an easy decision when expanding me kit.
A great range, reasonably priced, comfortable to wear / carry - you've gotta give Lowepro a go!

I got this backpack for week-end photo trips. It holds my D90 (with battery pack) and zoom lens with room for another lens, flash and my iPad. There is enought room for all those little extras - battery chargers, filters, etc. Well worth the money.

This bag has so much room! Very easy to custom design to fit your configuration. takes to seconds to swing around and hang off of one shoulder so you can grab your camera out with out having (1) everything fall out (2) not having to set it down anywhere. NEVER miss a shot while trying to get your gear out of your bag. Great amount of padding and very adjustable. Fits both on my 5'6" frame and my husbands 6'4" frame.

I use it for day treks at my lake property. Very comfortable and easy to get to the camera. I have a Cannon 7D with several lens. I also carry the Zacuto View Finder and a Rode Mic. All fits well into pack and is well protected. Extra room for other stuff. Would be nice to have a tripod strap!

Took this on a trip to Singapore and Bali and found it to be extremely helpful. Apart from my Canon EOS 7D and 2 lenses (15-85 and 18-270), I could carry a spare point and shoot, all cables, my laptop and all travel documents. The best part of using this was easy access of the camera for quick shooting. The backpack is built very well and can be used for heavy loads. Highly recommend this item.

No need to get the bag off my shoulders for a quick shot. Has a side load for the same.

I am very pleased with this pack. I use it just about every weekend when I go to shoots that are in sites located in area that cannot be reached by car.
The only negative that I have about the pack is that it is missing a tripod holder.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Red/Black):
Bought the 250 after I carried a Fastpack 200 on a month-long trip in SE Asia and loved it. The difference is the 250 has an added slot for a laptop.
A backpack is better for the back and feels like less weight than a shoulder bag. But then your stuff is on your back. This bag has solved that problem: with the side zip lower pocket, I can swing the bag off one shoulder, change lenses etc, and swing it back. (I just have to remember to zip it closed again first.)
Bought 250 for a trip in a small commercial plane -- the kind where they make you check rollerbags at planeside. I had main body and lenses in lower compartment, 2nd body, lens shades, and other stuff in upper. Didn't fit overhead but did fit under the seat in front of me. 350 would not have fit, I think.
I love both the 200 and the 250 and am glad I have both.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack (Red/Black):
I recently purchased this backpack for an international trip. My kit includes a 7D + grip, 16-35, 28-70, 70-200 (2.8), EX 480 II, a cheap wide angle lens + adapter.
My previous bag was a Lowepro Slingshot 220 (I'm pretty sure) and while it fit my entire kit, I found it lacking in protection of my gear during domestic travel (people aren't nice to overhead carry-on), plus I would always have to have a separate bag for my 15.4" laptop - hence the purchase of this fantastic bag.
This bag was great, and is surprisingly light (my laptop was the heaviest part of it)! Maybe its because the last bag I had only had one strap, but I felt great walking around with it on my back for 2 weeks (including a 22hr travel day with long layovers). The construction is great with adjustable compartments in the camera section, plenty of storage in top portion of the bag (it held my laptop power cable, a light sweatshirt, my two pelican CF card cases, tickets, cell, cell charger, etc etc). I even squeezed a couple of magazines next to my laptop in the laptop area.
I wouldn't recommend this bag for everyday use because it is pretty big (I'm 5'6"). I will probably be using my SlingShot for jobs where I don't need my whole kit/laptop, but this is definitely the one if you're traveling or plan to be walking around with it on your back for while.
