I bought this pack specifically for a 3 week trip through Europe. I needed a pack for my Nikon D300 (w/ grip), telephoto lens, 50mm lens, computer, and various electronics and cables.
After 'living' with the pack every day of the trip, I am very satisfied with it's design and performance. The pack probably weighed in at 20+ pounds fully loaded. The straps are comfortable and sturdy although I'm not a big fan of the sternum buckle and waist straps (wish I could disconnect the sternum buckle from the main straps). I tried using the 'fastpack' feature a couple of times but found that I didn't trust the overall stability (due to the weight I was carrying) in getting my camera out of the pack one-handed. It was not difficult to just set the pack down and safely remove the camera. The pack's contents are well protected from occasional rough handling. I only exposed the pack to light rain, so I can't comment on more extreme water protection.
It was easy to clear all security points (airports, museums, etc) with the pack and the outside pockets made it easy to access my travel documents. There is just enough room in the upper chamber to carry some extra clothes, if needed. The pack fit easily in overhead compartments on trains and airplanes.
I'm very satisfied with taking this pack on an extended trip.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 350 Backpack (Red/Black):
I got this pack to be able to take a laptop with me in the field along with the DSLR or compact video equipment. I usually like Lowepro products, and I haven't been disappointed with the Fastpack 350. It has a pretty good amount of room, my camera can be accessed without taking the pack off, and it is relatively comfortable to wear. The construction quality is good, with substantial padding.
Quibbles: it does not have an all weather cover, like my Lowepro slingshot. It would also be improved by adding a tripod holder, and more small internal and external pockets.
I'm not a very big person, so it feels kind of heavy and bulky, but that's the penalty for wanting a lot of room in a bag.
It's a little pricey, but good quality overall.

I'm just a hobby photographer and don't have enough equipment to fill out the bag...yet! I was able to put a few clothes in the bottom, so I used this bag as my only luggage on an overnight trip. It worked great! Kept my gear safe and held the other items I needed. The shoulder straps are well padded and I love the sternum and waist straps!
Great item so far, and I'm really looking forward to taking it out more.

I did alot of shopping around, googling review before finally deciding on the Lowepro Fastpack 350. This camera backpack meets all my needs for carrying my camera gear and my computer as well. I am currently living in the middle east and travel back and forth to the US. I can load up my camera gear and my laptop in this backpack.
The only thing that I would recommend is a change to the waist belt that is on the backpack. I think it should be changed to be an optional attachment that could be attached via velcro or removed and stored.

For the most part, I really like this backpack. The one major problem with it is that your camera is in danger of falling out of the pack quickly when you unzip the storage compartment. Therefore, I have to store my camera in the top compartment that is less padded. I wish they had allowed for one more padded strip along the back of the camera. I am a larger person and all of the straps and harnesses fit me very comfortably. It has a very sturdy construction and lots of useful compartments.

I bought this product to take my gear around Africa and parts of Europe. I bought the 250 version of this first but it wasn't large enough to hold my 24-105 and 70-200 2.8 with the hoods. I could have put the hoods in the top compartment but I preferred that space for other gadgets. Overall the bag is much better than the 250 because of more room in both top and bottom compartments and chest straps. The only complaint is that the bag could be made to have more variations in configuring inside. It's comfortable too with gear and laptop and provides serious protection for both.

I was looking for a backpack that allow me to carry my laptop and camera when traveling, and if possible also, for carrying all my things to work every day, including my camera (in a secure way), because you never now when finding that interesting pic.
The only inconvenient I discovered is that is a little big for my size (I'm a 1.64 mts. girl), but still comfortable

I absolutely love this backpack. My DSLR camera is easily accessible and the storage compartment has tons of extra space for extra lenses, flashes and lens filter. This backpack also has plenty of room for my laptop which has a 16.4 in screen. I would recommend this backpack to anyone, its perfect for storing and transporting all your camera gear and laptop.

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 350 Backpack (Red/Black):
This is an amazing bag. Like most of you, as a photographer, I am always looking for the 'perfect bag'. Well guess what, it doesn't exist... but this bag comes close. I am able to hold My D300 w/ battery grip, Tokina 80-400, Tokina 50-135, Sigma 10-20, Nikon 18-70, Nikon 50mm and an SB600 flash... all in just the lower camera compartment! The upper section holds my phone, ipod, a light jacket & shirt, spare batteries, eyeglasses, etc...
My macbook 15" fits in the space provided with room to spare. The padding throughout allows for plenty of both comfort & equipment protection. If I had to find one drawback, it's that this bag is not AW. I own two other Lowepro bags & both have AW and it comes in handy when the rain starts coming down. But overall, this is a fantastic bag.

This is the 3rd bag I've tried, and this is one I am definitely happy with. It holds a good deal of equipment... more so than many other bags that claim they have room for "6-8 lenses." Love that it has a place for my laptop as well - 17" MacBook pro fits easily. The lower compartment allows me to get a good selection of lenses and a body in there. The upper compartment can be used for additional photo items or can be used for wallet, keys, snacks, other items. Well put together and well laid out. Love it ! Also has very comfortable straps.

Perfect for use as an everyday bag. The waist strap takes the weight off your back, and the computer pocket cuts down on the number of bags you need to carry.

I wish there was a comparison with an average person donning backpack to determine 'bulkiness' onto body. Another item was the storage (limited) for flash, medium size lens with camera, and extra lens. It's a great product still because quality of material used; adjustable harness; and comfort to wear on body.

After ordering another brand of backpack, which I returned because my gear would not fit, I ordered the Fastpack 350. All of my camera gear fit nicely(Canon 40D, 17-85mm lens, 100mm Macro, 70-300mm lens, and Canon flash unit)and I could store the camera with any lens. I actually have room for more. This is all in the lower compartment. The upper compartment has plenty of space for other incidentals such as jackets. Since I don't plan on taking a lap top I could always place a rain jacket in that space. If there is any negative I would like to see a couple of places to attach some straps (to hold atripod). I am truely satisfied with this product [...]

Comments about Lowepro Fastpack 350 Backpack (Red/Black):
Used the backpack recently on a trip to Zion. Lighter and easier to carry than my Tamrac Pro 9. Plenty of room for my D1s Mark III (with an L series 70-200 lens attached) 24-70 lens, 2x converter and macro converter. The top has a generous amount of room that allowed a light jacket and food to be packed. Would be nice to have a rain cover as with other Lowepro backpacks.
