Ansman Energy 16 Charger - Rechargeable batteries have two big advantages in comparison with disposable batteries: they are more economical in the long-term and more environmentally friendly. They are also able to supply a higher level of repeatable energy due to their more advanced chemical characteristics.
Therefore, rechargeable batteries are the optimum energy source for equipment with high consumption of electricity (digital cameras, flash lights, electric powered tools, toys, musical instruments and industrial power systems).
It is important to protect the battery from over-charging. Ansmann chargers use a microprocessor controlled - delta V circuit. A safety timer is always included with Ansmann chargers. Some of the chargers also have a battery temperature monitoring (Tmax). As soon as the battery is at full capacity, the charger switches automatically to trickle charge.
As an extra specialty, the Energy series all include an automatic refreshing function. Even though their models may vary in design and capability, some features apply to all the chargers: an outstanding functionality, easy operation and 3 year warranty.

Comments about Ansmann Energy-16 Charger for NiMH and NiCd - C, D, AA, AAA and 9V Batteries:
Pros:
In use with eneloops for our Canon Speedlights and external battery packs. Smart charging technology, I just leave the batteries in charger until next shoot and always ready for action with no fear of overcharging, overheating etc. Well made and takes a whopping 16 AA's and checks each batteries condition and charges it accordingly automatically refreshing it only if necessary which should extend the usefulness and lifespan of the battery.
Cons:
Takes up some desk real estate, however well worth it.

Comments about Ansmann Energy-16 Charger for NiMH and NiCd - C, D, AA, AAA and 9V Batteries:
I've used this for several months. After much research I decided to purchase this. I thought that it was a bit pricey but now I can say it was worth every cent. I had old batteries that wouldn't hold a charge very long (10% of what they were new). After putting them through the refresh/charge cycle a couple of times they were as good as new. Batteries aren't cheap and the Ansmann has paid for itself and then some. The charger may not refresh/charge a battery that is totally drained. The red LED flashes indicating a "Damaged cell not usable". I put the battery in my old charger for a few minutes to give it a little charge and then put it in the Ansmann. It refreshed/charged it just fine...like new again! I can put batteries in and leave them for a couple of days and they will not overcharge. It will just trickle charge them without harm. The batteries, when charging, may get hot. This is normal...not to worry. They'll cool off when they reach trickle charge. The charger will not charge the batteries too fast, which reduces battery life. But it's still fast. The LED indicators are a lot easier to see at a glance or distance than having to read a little screen as with some chargers. Charging 12 AA batteries at a time is great. I use this almost daily and have not had any problems. Well worth the investment. Last charger I'll need to buy.

Comments about Ansmann Energy-16 Charger for NiMH and NiCd - C, D, AA, AAA and 9V Batteries:
As with most German products, this is over-engineered. This is not a bad thing. The high battery capacity of this charger saves hours of charging time, as does the speed with which it charges. It takes several types of batteries and does its job to perfection. If you leave the batteries in for too long, though, they get incredibly hot. I've had this experience with all chargers though, so this is typical.

Comments about Ansmann Energy-16 Charger for NiMH and NiCd - C, D, AA, AAA and 9V Batteries:
Unboxing was a breeze because of the poor quality of the box, which was falling apart. The power cord only had a US plug, while a friend who bought the same product at the same time got one with dual plugs (one for Europe). I expected more consistency from a product this expensive.
The only operational problem with the product is that it will not accept totally discharged batteries. You have to charge them for a couple of minutes with another charger first.
A matter of personal taste, but I was disappointed that there was no wall mounting possibility. The charger is the size of a food plate and takes up a lot of table estate.
Other than the above mentioned complaints it does exactly what it is supposed to. Charges up to 16 batteries at the same time, individually controlled and keeps trickle charging them as long as they stay in their bays. In our case, we store our spare batteries in the charger and always have fresh ones for flashes, toys etc.
I have used a number of different brands of batteries and all work fine.

We use this to charge the batteries for our wireless mics at church. The charger is top notch! If you get high Ma rated batteries like 3250 AA's then it takes a couple of times for the charger to learn how much they can hold, but after that it's gold!!
The spots for the AA's sometimes need to be jiggled a little to make a good contact with the negative side of the batteries. But it still works great!
