Pelican LAPD 7060 Rechargeable LED Flashlight

The Pelican 7060 rechargeable LED flashlight is a product of an uncommon coaction between Pelican Products and the City of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Pelican's brilliant execution of the 7060's design yielded a high-performance illumination tool that sports a 50 percent reduction in weight over many standard issue law enforcement flashlights, and a conservative form factor that fits easily into most duty-belt configurations. As a result, the LAPD has adopted the Pelican 7060 LED flashlight as their standard issue tactical/patrol flashlight for all of their officers.
The 7060 flashlight features dual switching options that allow the light to be activated by the housing-mounted patrol switch, or its tactical tail-cap switch. This dual-switch configuration allows the operator to control the light while employing different grip-techniques. Switching from patrol mode to a tactical mode can be executed flawlessly in seconds.
The 7060 delivers a commanding 160 lumens of focused light with a centralized blinding cone for immobilizing a potential threat. The peripheral wash of illumination surrounding the hot-spot provides ample visibility for viewing a broad area, or executing details such as note taking, citation writing, or reading maps. The remarkable illumination performance of the 7060 is delivered by an electronically controlled LED lamp module. The powerful 1W LED is virtually indestructible, with an estimated life-span of over 10,000 hours. With a fully charged set of batteries, the 7060 is capable of providing a continuous beam of high-intensity light for a full 90 minutes.
Regardless of the situation, environment, or climate, the 7060 will remain securely in your grasp; its housing is cleverly crafted from a high-strength aluminum alloy with a unique faceted grenade-grip pattern. The housing's exterior is treated with a chemically inert Xenoy resin coating that provides a superior tactile gripping surface, as well as protection from the elements, impact, and moisture.

I'm a correctional officer and use my pelican flashlight 5 days a week. I mainly use the pelican LAPD 7060 to direct inmates and the bright LEDs on 7060 are a big factor in my ability to direct inmates. In my opinion the 7060 Pelican is hard to beat when it comes to the amount of light it admits,it's light weight, and holds a charge long hours before recharging.

I work as a park ranger at night. This flashlight is perfect. It lights up a big area allowing me to see well. The only complaint I have is that the carrying case for the flashlight is cheap and I tore it up in a week.

This is my second 7060LED Pelican light. My first was stolen when my car was broken into, and I have been saving my pennies ever since to get a new one. This flashlight will go for many weeks without a recharge and still provide hours of extremely bright light. Tough and water resistant, it definitely lives up to the Pelican name. I have relied on this light for many years, and have never been let down.

My mother lives in a rural area dnd likes to go for walks. I gave her this flashlight as a present because of it's size, brightness and capacity on a single charge. The weight is perfect... It doesn't feel like you're walking around with a heavy attachment on your belt and the intense of the light is amazing. Try this light next to a MagLite and you'll see the difference.
The down side to this product is it's cost. However, if you're the type of person who wants to buy one flashlight and never have to by another for a very very long time, this is the one to get.

The only thing missing with this light is the ability to stand it up on its bottom end. It has an on off switch on the bottom that is not recessed enough to allow you to stand the light up on its end. For example: Standing the light up on a table to light up a room. It would tip over because of the button. Just a thought.

This flashlight is great. I work patrol nights (as a police officer) and this flashlight is probably the best i've used. I've gone through numerous other flashlights... Stingers,Surefire, etc. an this one really does take the cake.
A few of the guys on my shift got the same light after they saw how bright and direct the beam was. One or two of them dropped it from a pretty good height, and it caused something in the internal battery housing to break. Pelican sent them new ones at no cost, and quickly!
As for me, I've dropped mine from about waist height, into 1 ft of water, while it was on, and the thing stayed on underwater and didnt leak. I was seriously impressed.
I highly recommend this light for anyone who works at night.
As a side note, it makes a pretty good impact weapon!

When photographing at night and photographing events, a good sturdy flashlight is essential. The Pelican 7060 is an excellent flash light, the best I have seen. It provides crisp, white light with a strong centre beam and nice smooth peripheral beam. The flashlight itself feels surprisingly light, with most of the weight been in the aluminium heat-sink but the large lithium battery in the handle balances the light nicely in the hand. This flashlight is ideal for providing illumination over a large work area, illuminating a path in the dark and most importantly for someone like me who often carries expensive equipment at night, will be a strong deterrent to any untoward characters. The rechargeable battery means that although this is quite an expensive flashlight to buy, it's a cheap one to run.
