With its ability to generate great looking video while maintaining small file sizes, MPEG-4 is particularly well suited as a compression medium for DVRs.

Video is stored to an optional SD memory flash card, up to 1GB in capacity, which goes right into the DVR. Because no moving parts are involved, continuous video recording is ensured even when the DVR is subjected to shock and vibration.

Recorded video can be viewed in high resolution right on the DVR's built-in 2.5" color LCD screen or on a large monitor by connecting the DVR to a TV via its A/V output ports.

Recorded material can also be viewed on a PC by connecting the DVR to the computer via its USB 1.1 port. This USB port also allows the DVR to be used as an external storage device for transferring files to and from a PC.

Although the button camera does not feature a built-in microphone, the DVR has an A/V input and will record audio along with video.
