Simple and convenient insurance coverage for laptop power related failure. Also doubles as an ethernet surge when you plug in to mystery networks so you dont have to worry about cooking your onboard NIC.

Comments about APC PNOTEPROC6 SurgeArrest Notebook with 3-Pin Connection:

I got this to stick on my Targus universal laptop charger, it (this surge protector) comes with a velcro strap so it can stay securely fastened to the power adapter brick at all times. Also, this surge protector includes protection for wired network which is usually only found in very expensive surge protectors.

Be warned, they really wad up the short network cable that comes with the surge protector and jam it in the package -- mine would only work when I held it in a certain position. But I can't take off any stars for that because network cables are dirt cheap anyway. I'm certain I could have called APC and got a free replacment cable (I've had excellent dealings with APC Support with previous products) but I had spare network cables laying around so I just tossed the bad one out.

Comments about APC PNOTEPROC6 SurgeArrest Notebook with 3-Pin Connection:

I was looking for something that would get the job done without taking up a lot of room. Size and form are especially important for travel. I have been very satisfied with APC products in the past [...]Our weather has been calm, so the surge protection has not been put to that level of a test. However, I'm sure other sources of power surges have most likely been present even if there were no storms in the area. So far, I've had no problems.

Comments about APC PNOTEPROC6 SurgeArrest Notebook with 3-Pin Connection:

I'm using this in a wide variety of public places for protecting my newly purchased laptop from any unexpected electrical surges. It's an ideal design: by being inline with the power cord, in addition to not hogging the wall socket--covering the unused socket that could be used for another cord--it also extends the power cord itself about another foot.

Also, the other accessory jacks available within it, either for a phone modem or Ethernet cable, are nice to have for that rare occasion when needed. However, it may unnecessarily increase the price point to a questionable level, when comparing it to other products available in the Market--something of interest to someone like myself on a tight budget not interested in paying for additional technology bordering on being outdated (easily resolved by offering a simpler model).

My only concern was the information provided about what the specifications and warranty cover could use a little more detail. Other than that, this is my second purchase in 5 years, because of the first one doing it's job--the LED indicator and design blocks the ability to use it as confirmation--and I'll probably buy another to replace this one when fails its protection.
