The DP-02 from Tascam makes it fun and easy to record out in the real world. This eight-track digital recorder offers state-of-the-art technology in a sleek, modern design with an intuitive interface. Unlike other recorders that use a confusing menu system for settings changes, the DP-02 uses dedicated knobs and faders to control level, pan, effects send, and EQ. This allows you to work creatively and quickly based on your instincts, rather than having to dig through levels of menus just for a simple tweak.
The DP-02 has a 40GB internal hard drive for recording audio at 16-bit/44.1kHz for CD-quality sound. A pair of XLR mic/line inputs with phantom power allows you to record sound from almost any source. A direct guitar input is also included for quickly recording riffs. A USB 2.0 interface makes it easy to transfer audio to your computer for manipulation. If you don't want the hassles of working with a computer, you can use the DP-02's built-in multi-effects processor to spice up your tracks, and then burn them to a disc using the built-in CD-RW burner.

This device itself with its technology is a revolution. It has a few hang-ups that I wouldn't expect in todays day and age to be, like a lil' lag time, screens a lil' small, and you have to do a few things a lil' more specifically than usual. Which could cost a lil' time.....but this isn't a. Bad review. Because even with all those things we've now become lazy on, what this thing does with its clarity and accuracy to capture something so true is absolutely amazing. I'm sure it'll become a lil' more refined one day soon but for now. You can still make beautiful music with a little patience

I use this product to record my songs and songwriting ideas. It took me less than a day to find my way around the machine. By nightfall, I was already recording my ideas. Although there is music software available, I found this to be a helpful in my songwriting. A great purchase at a great price!!!

Comments about Tascam DP-02 Eight-Track Digital Portastudio:
I use the DP02 mainly for recording classical piano music. The on board reverb comes in handy and the dedicated knobs and faders are fairly straitforward to use. I also use the built in CD burner. The sound quality and overall constuction is excellent. My main complaint is that the enclosed manual is somewhat vague and misleading in describing some of the unit's functions.

if youre in to home demos this is youre machine !! sounds good ,easy to use, only thing missing in the box is a carry case to at lease protect it from dust.
another good thing to have with this is a power conditionner to clean the current and take away some of that extra hum ! i suggest this machine if you wanna record some home stuff , this isnt a studio quality machine ! but for the price you wont find better its worth four times its price ... i also bought the tascam monitors to fit with this looks sharp and does the job !! enjoy !

Comments about Tascam DP-02 Eight-Track Digital Portastudio:
I bought this for personal home recording. I had the analog version, and wanted to step up to digital, and stayed with Tascam based on the quality of my old unit. The DP-02 has that same quality build, and is really not that hard to operate, just READ THE MANUAL. As other users recommended, I did buy a preamp to kick up the gain for mics, and will probably use my own outboard effects. The sound quality of what I've recorded is crisp and clear. I'm pleased with this unit.

Recording is fast, simple, and easy. The 40 gig hard drive is great and means you dont have to worry about how much room you might need to record an album. Also, the built in cd burner and "mastering" feature means no additional equipment to buy for a professional quality sounding cd. An absolute steal for the price!

I needed a multitrack to record a song I made for a special event. I have not tried to record anything since I used my 4 track cassette recorder. It took me about an hour to read instructions and to record the first track. The great part was in a few minutes I had burned it to the internal CD.
