Comments about IRISCan Executive 2 Portable Color Sheetfeed Scanner:
I purchased the Iriscan Executive 2 portable scanner for my personal use. I have used it for scanning receipts and business cards and have found it to be a terrific scanner. It is slower than others, but that has been no problem for me as I am retired. The images are exactly as the original and the software is excellent. I have not yet tried a picture as all my pictures are already digital, but if the other software is an example, it should do fine.

Comments about IRISCan Executive 2 Portable Color Sheetfeed Scanner:
I purchased this scanner at a time when I needed to archive and store several work-related documents, and to submit several more via e-mail. The one-button scanning feature on this scanner makes both tasks very easy! Simply insert the document top-end first, press the button, and the image is scanned directly into the included Readiris 11 Pro software. Scan time for most of my documents has been about 30 seeconds per page. I've tried both the 300 and 600 dpi settings, and have found nothing of which to complain concerning the quality of the images or the cleanliness of the scan.
Multiple pages can be scanned and saved as a single TIFF or PDF, making document collection or proof-sheet creation very convenient. I've also begun using the included Cardiris software to archive my business card collection. Cardiris allows you to scan the card and then file it with any pertinent information you choose to enter, allowing you to create categories and personalized criteria to make business card searches much more convenient.
Photograph scanning is just as easy. I've tried standard 4x6 matte photos, a 5x7 glossy, and an older Polaroid snapshot, and they all scanned with equal ease and clarity at 300 dpi, without the typical dust accumulation you see on pics scanned on a flatbed scanner.
I have not had the opportunity to use the included OCR software, but if Readiris and Cardiris are any indication, it will easily suit the casual user's needs.
If you plan for more heavy-duty usage, you may want to go with a more advanced model that scans faster and comes with slightly more intuitive software. But for the price, this is an excellent scanner for the casual user!
